Microsoft Plans New Xbox Campus ... with a bar?
Posted by XanTium | November 8 23:54 EST | News Category: Xbox_Xbox360

From Todd Bishop's Microsoft Blog:
[QUOTE]
Microsoft plans to create a big new campus in Redmond for its Entertainment and Devices Division, including its Xbox business, and if one aspect of the building design accurately reflects the company's intentions, it will include a rather unusual employee amenity: a bar.
Microsoft plans Xbox campus

Microsoft is expected to publicly detail the campus plan in the coming days. The planned four-building, 1.1 million-square-foot office complex is west of state Route 520, just north of the former Eddie Bauer headquarters.

While looking through the building permits for the West Campus project at Redmond City Hall this week, I came across the schematic shown at the top of this post, laying out the design of one of the commons buildings at the center of the complex. It details a bar with capacity for 76 occupants, next to a room with two pool tables.

This is clearly an event room so Microsoft can have events and promotions on campus. They are not going to have a full service bar for their employees.

A bar doesn't necessarily mean alcohol. That's just the first thing we think of. Maybe it's a Sushi Bar, Juice Bar, Desert Bar, or just literally a bar.... maybe a bar of iron, silver, or other metal.

dont be too sure of yourself, in the 2 years I worked at M$ (99-00) one of the biggest things was alcohol at after hours events. It was never uncommon to see cases of beer in the refridgerators in the break room for after hours meetings/events.

Great now they can be drunk while designing the next Xbox, that will help with reliability.

Glad I donated $1150 so far in Xbox purchases to thier fun. sleep.gif
