Xbox Live is 5IVE: How to Get the Free 500 MS Points
Posted by XanTium | November 15 23:46 EST | News Category: Xbox360

From teamxbox.com:
[QUOTE]
To claim your 500 Microsoft Points [MS offers to active member who joined the service in 2002], all you have to do is register on this web site using your Windows Live ID associated to your gamertag. You can register until midnight (Pacific Time) on November 29, 2007, and after you do so, you will receive an e-mail with a 25-digit code that lets you to activate your Microsoft Points through your Xbox 360 console. Don't expect that email to arrive instantly as the deadline for that email is December 21, 2007.

I've had live since it first came out, but right around when the 360 came out they had some issues and told me to create a new profile. So what do I do?

I beta tested live and I kinda feel like it's a slap in the face for them to reward my loyalty and the fact they they have made $250 off of me just from subscription fees (I don't even want to think of how much money they have made from me off of my other LIVE purchases) for them to reward me with a $6.25 value like this.

And I hope that the method in wich they are handing out the points doesn't mean anyone who goes to the site can get them, that would make it even more meaningless.

Don't get me wrong I appreciate the gesture and all, I mean they didn't have to give us anything, but it still kinda feels like a slap in the face. I guess I am only worth $6.25 to microsoft.

they should of just given them 500 points automatically to their gamertag instead of having to go to their website and having them send u an email with activation code .... security reasons i guess

Lol, me too. I'm not about to spend money on something I can't transfer to a new machine if mine suddenly craps out. Bankshot Billiards 2, here I come. Hopefully M$ will change the DRM on Xbox Live Arcade titles.

Any news about Europe and the free points? I've been there since day one, although that was about 4 months later in March 2003. Would be nice if our loyalty is rewarded as well.

So it is a slap in the face that they are giving you something for free? Let me ask what other 5 year subscription do you have that you only pay $250 for and you get something free at all. Maybe if you keep bitching about free stuff people will just no longer give you anything for free.

Wow...maybe you shoulc re-read my post...I am not bitching... yes it is a slap in the face that the best they could muster is a $6.25 value that really costs them nothing to give away. It's insulting to think that that's all the more they value my loyalty.

Like I said I realise they didn't have to give me anythng, and I appreciate the gesture but; I almost would have preferred getting nothing over this... it almost feels like sarcasm on thier part.

I got free gifts for beta testing and they actually seemed like they were worth something and like Microsoft was thanking me for my contribution... I would have even taken a $6 shirt over $6 worth of points or even something added to my gamercard indicating how long I have been around and that I beta tested...that would have cost them nothing and would have been a neat thing to have.

I'm really not saying I want more, per-say, just maybe if they had put more thought in it. 500 points doesn't make me think they are really appreciative of my business, it's like they are just doing it because they feel they have to or something.

While I'm new to Xbox Live, I agree, you should of at least got a free Xbox 1 downloadable game or two of them, or even some free games for that matter (disk based)..The title of this sounds like everyone gets 500MS points because it's 5IVE, not the early testers.
