Xbox 360 Birthday Blast: 14 biggest bombs dropped this year
Posted by XanTium | November 22 01:16 EST | News Category: Xbox360

From xbox360.ign.com:
[QUOTE]
Xbox 360 was born on November 22, 2005. That means it's time to bake a cake, put on silly hats, and sing a song for Microsoft's big white box. It's been one hell of a year for Microsoft, with plenty of ups and only a few downs. To celebrate its second birthday, we're taking a look back at some of the biggest stories of the past twelve months.

* 360 Nabs GTA IV Exclusive DLC (megaton: 8 | fall-out: 4)
* E3 Ups and Downs (megaton: 3 | fall-out: 5)
* Warranty Extended (megaton: 9 | fall-out: 9)
* Xbox Originals for Download (megaton: 2 | fall-out: 1)
* Halo Movie Dies, Lives, and Dies Again (megaton: 4 | fall-out: 3)
* Increased Japanese Third-Party Support (megaton: 4 | fall-out: 7)
* Halo 3 Launch (megaton: 10 | fall-out: 4)
* The Multi-SKU Strategy (megaton: 5 | fall-out: 5)
* Peter Moore Leaves Microsoft for EA (megaton: 10 | fall-out: 8)
* Gears of War Exceeds Lofty Expectations (megaton: 4 | fall-out: 4)
* Bungie Goes Indie (megaton: 10 | fall-out: 10)
* EA Buys BioWare (megaton: 9 | fall-out: 8)
* Microsoft Loses Front-Runner Status (megaton: 8 | fall-out: 8)
* Xbox 360 Price Drop (megaton: 1 | fall-out: 1)

You can't spell "ignorant" without IGN. As always, they're doing it wrong.

in case you haven't read the 14-page article, and just want to know what "megaton/fallout" means, this is from the article:

"we'll give you Megaton and Fallout ratings. Megaton measures the initial impact and just how big the news was when it first hit the wire. Fallout is perhaps more important as it measure the long-term impact of the news."

stop crying about the banhammer, you knew the risks when you opened the console and flashed the firmware..

anyhow happy birthday Xbox 360...I think the amount of awesome titles that are out now (we must be going into 3rd gen titles) like Mass Effect, Bioshock, Halo 3 etc make it an awesome purchase.

on the 1st gen, 2nd gen, games, etc. does it refer to the number of games release by that studio since launch. if so, then cod4 would be a 2nd gen (cod3 was outsourced), and halo3 a 1st gen? and mass effect a 1st gen?

not sure if thats how it works or not??????

Well I was under the assumption that luanch titles were 1st generation games (PGR 3, Kameo etc) the 2nd generation were games like COD2, Lost Planet, etc etc then games like Halo 3, PGR 4, Mass Effect etc are 4th generation...I could be wrong but basically as MS release more up to date development tools with more streamlined and optimized coding it means a new generation of games (even things like video and photo editing in games could be classed as part of a generation) though I could be totally wrong, ill let someone else clarify me.

I know Chair Entertainment develops for Windows and 360 but is that even true?

Maybe there were one or two things that were interesting but otherwise the article sucked.
