Fall Update Live ID Change Bug: Lose forum posts, CUL and icons
Posted by XanTium | December 3 23:30 EST | News Category: Xbox360

From Trixie via gamertagradio.com:
[QUOTE]
If you change the Live ID associated with your gamertag (as the Dash update allows you to do), you will lose all of your forum posts, CUL and icons. All your posts will appear as 'anonymous'. We're hard at work on a fix, but despite the team working on it all weekend, we don't have a fix ready to go out with the update.

If you are particularly attached to your Community User Level or forum icons please DON'T change your Live ID until we deploy a fix. It should only be a few days, and we apologize for the inconvenience. We will let you know as soon as it is safe to change your Live ID and keep all your forum goodness.

Ahahahah. Go figure that good ol' MS wouldn't put all their stuff in 3NF in the database. I can tell you right now that there are a lot of angry web programmers/database admins at the MS offices right now D: Why the hell would they have all that stuff linked to your gamertag as opposed to a unique UID? Stupid.

I'm just really happy they put this news out before the update hit. Its better now than later as I'm sure the effect will be less of an impact now. smile.gif I'm going to let my friends know about this before they make the change as I know a few of them don't like their names anymore.

Does the opportunity to change Live ID means that I can change the country which I chosen during registration to Live?

I'm confused by this statement...

If it is referring to the ability to change your GAMERTAG name then this is something that is NOT NEW. I changed my gamertag about 8 months ago. They charge you approx. $10.00 to do so but the option has been for awhile now.

What I have been trying to do for sometime now is change the email address that is associated with my gamertag (which I would assume is what they are talking about when they state "Live ID" .)

If that is the case then can someone please advise how this can be done?

Thanks.

NM cool.gif

I little more research on the net and I found that you CAN change your windows Live ID account that is associated with your gamertag thru the dashboard !

Can't wait to do this when I get home !!
