Rumor: MGS4 in Development for 360, 12-14m after PS3
Posted by XanTium | January 1 10:10 EST | News Category: Xbox360
From xboxfamily.com:
No, the rep will not be named, but this is pretty concrete. Speaking to a Konami rep at an undisclosed distribution meeting, I was told, after a lot of nagging, that yes indeed MGS was in development for the 360. The rep stated that Metal Gear Solid will be released for the Xbox 360 between 12 to 14 months after the PS3 version hits shelves. This is not a rumor.
I contacted Microsoft's own John Porcaro via email shortly after I spoke to the Konami rep to see if I could get anything from Microsoft's public relations team. Below is the response I received. Needless to say it's the most I've ever gotten out of MS PR team member.
"Thanks for the heads up, [name removed]. For anything that resembles any shift in strategy, or product announcement, or even news of something happening with a third party, we're always going to stick with "we haven't announced anything about " Every day we see rumors, most false, but some true, and we can't confirm/deny everything out there for any number of reasons.
I appreciate the note. I certainly will share everything I can, and I'll often rattle enough cages to get to an acceptable answer. In this case, there's really nothing we can say other than the obligatory "no comment.""
I can see this happening.... Konami would be stupid "NOT to" expand their MGS4 franchise upon the 360 to make more profit..
Tho people whine about it being exclusive and that it should stay that way.. well I think thats just being greedy and immature. Sure the BlueRay discs store way more content.. so on 360.. I imagine MGS4 would probly span 2 DVD-9's.. Switching discs half-way thru a game has never bothered me one bit.

I have to admit i wanted to see this on the xbox360, but 12 - 14 months wait, it almost doesn't seem worth it. I guess i'll have to just play it on my PS3

this would be great for xbox gamers (not that i have any interest in this title at this time - although that could change). if this is true, then not many good games remain that are sony exclusives.

I own a PS3 as well.. Tho my primary console is the 360..
The PS3 just seems like a deadbeat for games.. this year doesn't look any brighter either.. well cept MGS4.. but what other games are there?? FFXIII and VersusXIII are probly gonna be released in 2010.. or Winter of 2009.
ok, so I liked Heavenly Sword, Uncharted, Sigma and some others.. but thats it.. I only own 9 PS3 games to date since its launch day. For 360 I got like over 50 games or more.
There just aren't enough PS3's in peoples homes to make MGS4 flourish in sales.. Unless MGS4 will become a primary system pusher.
