I goy my 360 back of M$ about amonth ago with new mobo and a new dvd I only use this 360 for live so for christmas i got Call of duty 4 which as worked sound till today.I was playing it on live when it came unreadable disk and when i tuck the game out it as a big scratch that go's all the way around the disk.I just wanted to know where i stand with M$ will they sort this out if i send it back.I also have a second 360 which i dont use online but do play backups on i was wondering that if i flashed it back to the original firmware what are the chances of it getting banned

forgot to say that the 360 is out of warrenty but M$ fixed the 3rod anyway

According to M$ they only support replacements for their official games:

http://www.xbox.com/en-US/support/systemus...ement-games.htm

So you might be out of luck with COD4. If you just got it (within 30 days) I would return it for a replacement (the shop will deal with the defective disc). If your 360 scratches any other discs then you could consider calling M$ to let them know your replacement drive it killing your discs.

Another concern is your 360 upright or horizontal. In my opinion it's best played horizontal and not upright (as far as the heat dissipation and disc usage concerns). Sorry can't help with your flash question, haven't jumped into modding my 360...yet! Good luck.

if you flash back to original you wont get banned. its the original firmware... You only risk a chance of getting banned playing backups on live. I get updates for my burned copies all the time and duck out. I stay off live no matter what (unless im playing my real games) I play GOW all the time on live and never get banned with my modded console.

I have the same problem and M$ told me to buy a 1 year extended warrenty for $99.00 and send it in and they will take a look at it.As far as them replacing ANY game, they said they are not responsable for the 360 scratching games and to contact the game manufacturer to see if it qualifies for replacement but as we all know no game manufacturer is going to replace a game that is not a manufacturing defect,so I guess we are all up the creek on that one! My dvd drive grinds when you put a game in and when you go to the dashboard form gameplay. The games mine scratched are COD4,Halo3,NCAA08.Hope this helps. cool.gif
