interesting, i wonder how many this affected and how the achievement updating will work on those games and why it doesn't just update from the hard drive like if you were playing a game off line (pretty much what most were doing during the outage anyways)...

these "server bugs" really wrecked havoc at a very inopportune time and the damage appears to be lingering...

Get an achievement in another game - doesn't matter which one you get it in, its all synced up.

That could explain why save game of Guitar Hero suddently dissapeared after I changed the language of my console. It might not be because of the change of language but because of Xbox Live issues...

i seriously doubt that, saves are on the xbox not the servers...

I thought I may have been smoking my socks when I noticed something similar in COD4... But not achievements per se (COD4 has no multi-player achievements, only "challenges").

Anyway, was about 100 points away from a promotion, played some Domination, killed some baddies, made 100 points, got promoted in-game. Shortly after, got some of the now-usual errors ("game lobby closed" or "have to be connected to the internet to be able to use matchmaking"). After some hassles getting into another game (can't remember if it was directly after the error, or maybe after a couple of hours or a day), started a game, killed some baddies, and got promoted again. Exact same promotion as the previous time.

This happened 2 or 3 times DURING the problem times (25 Dec - 5 Jan). Very weird...

Anybody else experience this?

My achievments seem OK when viewing online, although I noticed when I checked my achievments hwile playing HL2 one of my unlocked achievments was now locked again!
Is this the problem they mean? I would have thought the online points would be wrong.

The Orange Box seems to have this problem. I have the achievements for completeing 4&6 advanced maps, but not for completeing 2 (i have the achievement in the game achievement window but not the Xbox one) and i also lost 2 from Episode 2 (unlocked ingame, not in xbox dash, even tho i remember them popping up)

Maybe this is why I've gotten the achievement unlocked: 3 of a kind in COD4 twice .

The same happened to me a few days ago...
I went in prestige mode and when I turned my xbox off I was around level 10 or so and when I signed in the next day I found myself on the old prestige emblem and level 54...
This happened to a few of my friends as well.,.

well this sucks whats it gonna be next call cust services and say "hi my xbox was working fine untill i was playing cod4 online and now i can only connect to ps3 users, it was weird because i got an achievement for actually finding a game and now its been wiped" im actually scared to turn on my 360 now incase it sprouts arms and legs and commits hari kari.
