Rumor: MS Dropping 360 Premium To 299usd For GTAIV?
Posted by XanTium | January 21 14:04 EST | News Category: Xbox360
From thebitbag.com:
You know, sometimes you get stuff in your tip jar and it's just too far fetched. However, I can't ignore the possibility of this rumor being true. So for now I'll stick it under the rumors column and you can take whatever you want from it.
Basically, some unnamed person has tipped that Microsoft will be dropping the price of the Premium 360 another $49 on the same day that GTAIV gets released. This mwould be a smart move for Microsoft as we know millions upon millions of people love the GTA series.
Makes sense... Wait until after the holidays then start taking advantage of the savings the mobo re-engineering has provided... I would bet on it, not against it...

MS might be smart enough to do so, but question is if the xbox division can afford to. Repairs and crappy engineering has made it very hard to bring down production costs. . .

if they do this, i will sell my unmodded old school lame mobo having 360 and just buy a new one to get the 65nm.
then hopefully, one day my other 360 will be able to run homebrew.
that is just too sweet a price point for such a stellar machine.

Crappy engineering was why it didn't cost that much to make in the first place.
MS is making a big profit on each 360 anyway. Even if they lowered the price, they probably still would make profit.
