I recently got a job to mod a XBOX when i opened it op the DVD drive is clearly marked MS28. I proceeded with the mod as usual did the 10 sec trick but kept getting some stupid stack error before iprep would patch. I noticed hen i tried to patch manual that the firmware said M25 so I assumed bad read. Did it again same. Ten i tried iprep without doing the 10 sec trick and noticed it worked perfect. Reading the firmware as MS25 and flashed it as MS25. I figured it was bricked figured what the hell let me try to boot a backup and sure enough worked perfect. Has anyone else noticed this or the label wrong? I was also told the drive was actually sent back from a repair for RROD. So does MS swap drives out and spoof them to cut costs down?
