I was trying this myself just last night and couldn't seem to find a way but I just thought of something. If you go into the Rock Shop and go to the instrument section you should be able to choose guitar or bass. There should be a bass already purchased for you. Make that your instrument and see if that does it. Otherwise I have no idea how to accomplish this.
