Official: Yahoo says 'No' to Microsoft
Posted by XanTium | February 11 12:57 EST | News Category: Xbox360

From gamesindustry.biz:
[QUOTE]
Yahoo has formally rejected Microsoft's USD 44.6 billion takeover bid.

In a statement, Yahoo said that its board "unanimously concluded that the proposal is not in the best interests of Yahoo and our stockholders." Yahoo also said that the offer substantially undervalues the company, failing to take into account its strong brand and global audience.

"The board of directors is continually evaluating all of its strategic options in the context of the rapidly evolving industry environment and we remain committed to pursuing initiatives that maximize value for all stockholders," the statement read.

They think they are the #1 internet company in the world and rightfully so. Yahoo has been #1 on Alexa ratings for years and years.

Let me just say this. I have had a yahoo account for years and use many of their services without any problems. Now if m$ gets involved with yahoo im going to start getting some sort of RROD on my homepage, NOT COOL. m$ needs to worry about fixing their OS's, fixing their gaming console before they try to take over the free world.

Let all the haters talk about how Yahoo! should've just sold to MS all they want. I still think it was a bad idea, and applaud Yahoo! for turning the offer down.

Yahoo has been doing just fine without MS.

Translation.. we're interested.. but MS has to put alot more money on the table.

Yahoo simply wants more money. I don't blame them. If MS was chasing me down.. I'd hold out for every dime I thought I could squeeze from them.

I do see MS making a new offer in the future. They wanted Yahoo, they still want Yahoo.

Wow they are stupid. MS offered them a lot more than they're worth. Yahoo sucks anyway.

Please....this isn't a "NO", this is a "NO...for now".

If Yahoo didn't want to be purchased they would have said something along the lines of them never wanting to change, or in any way jeapordise their customers, blah, blah blah. Instead they said "No...that's not enough" which is what any company does the first time another company makes an offer.

It's going to happen, and it will cost MS more than they've already offered.

If I'm wrong I'll eat my leg biggrin.gif

Christ, I can't begin to imagine what MS would do to Yahoo when (not if) they buy them out. Im thinking everything will be LIVE this and LIVE that, VALIDATE this VALIDATE that... UPDATE REQUIRED... ugh...

I actually love my yahoo email, had it for years. Guess I can count on that to never being used again when this evenutually happens... joy. dry.gif

Although, I hate their Messenger service. Seems like all the sex weirdo's use it for some reason.

Oh yes, I certainly do hate security and application updates. I mean, who needs all these extra features? I enjoyed chatting in a text terminal across a UNIX environment too. If a virus gets loaded into memory and tries to attack various facets of the system - let it! I hate being interrupted from my typing in all of those three seconds it takes to see the window and chose an option.

But seriously, Hotmail has never been a problem for me - and I haven't heard of many compaints at all amoung all my friends and relatives who use it. I mean, one should use a bit of common sence and have all important emails going to a paid account (Such as the ISPs) just in case, but hotmail hasn't ever done me wrong. I've also had my Hotmail address for many, many years and it has been just fine.
