(USA) MS Promises to Address Hardware Shortages
Posted by XanTium | February 13 07:07 EST | News Category: Xbox360

From gamesindustry.biz:
[QUOTE]
The former EA man, who joined Microsoft six months ago, promised that the company was working to address the Xbox 360 hardware shortage issues in North America.

"We'd hoped to have a strong showing in North America this holiday season, and we had a stronger showing than anticipated," he said in the podcast. "So we had some shortages, we weren't able to deliver enough hardware against demand that was in the market.

"That's a great problem to have, we're addressing that in the coming year - it's going to take us a little bit of time to amp up our manufacturing, but we're really encouraged that people purchased as many games and as many boxes as they did on our platform - we think that bodes well for the future."

I would have thought that Online multiplayer will be unique on the 360, are far more interesting news then this. But hey the headline is only so big. . .

meh, they already debunked the online uniqueness. . .

It'd have to be much worse to overshadow the Wii shortages.

Man, just imagine how this scenario might play out.

They have been chugging along at a certain pace and we still have about a 10% failure rate with the new units (according to some sources). Now they decide to ramp up the production pace. Doing this will almost always allow more mistakes to slip through and units will get shipped that really shouldn't.

Add to all this the DRM issues that are plaguing users who have to have their consoles replaced.

So, they wind up meeting the demand with units that don't work.

Call me cynical...

Sounds almost like a marketing spin to me.

"We got the box u want!! don't wait!! buy now or risk being teased by your little friends!"

call me cynical...

My thoughts exactly.

We all know what happened last time they decided to rush their product out the doors.

This has RROD written all over it... dry.gif

EDIT: Oh, if your reading this MS...

Yes. Your reading a comment from a huge XBOX fan that has COMPLETELY lost faith that you will ever produce a qualtiy product. Ever.

Blame your weak ass quality control. Blame your weak ass return service. Blame YOURSELF.

must have only been certain SKUs for certain regions because i saw most models available at most stores locally over the past several months...

this new from MS really leaves more questions than answers...

This was only in the US and limited at that but i can say that where I live the elite was in very short supply and just recently has been back on the shelves consistantly.

well they must be trying to build up demand for the 360 cuz I can't find a pro or elite at any bestbuy or circuit city all they have is the "arcade" model which I don't want to buy..Stop holding your inventory MS we know you have some so ship them out already

I only find arcades...there are shortages of certain SKUs, i can confirm that. The elite is harder ti find. Just because u can find some in ur city doesnt mean there isnt a shortage. Hell i can find wiis whenever i want. I own 3 and wqhen i sell them, the profits are going towards my second ps3 (60 gig) since i got the anti ps2 version.
