"Best original" went to pacman... really? How can you call pacman original even if it is suped up to impress it has only been around 20 some odd years. I do love the championship edition tho biggrin.gif

wow, there were ten XBLA awards and they were split over only five games?

there are many more games that should have received recognition or at least created the awards so that the same ones wouldn't be repeated over the entire list - that makes the award list almost useless.

that being said, i guess that i should take a look at bomberman...

I voted on the Xbox.com website...

the reason the awards were split over just 5 games is that you could only vote on games that had been "nominated" for an award... which was pretty much the same 5 games for every award.

I gave a "write in" answer for nearly every vote.

Where's your precious Undertow NOW, Microsoft? Mua ha ha!

And Pac-man is DEFINITELY the most original title, much like with Halo 3 and as will be Grand Theft Auto 4 and Resident Evil 5. It's not in the least anything you've ever played or seen or heard of before. smile.gif

Actually I play a good amount of halo 3 and yes it is a lot like other games i have played like halo err halo 2 to name a few, and pacman plays like pacman on heroine but with very familiar gameplay still. I think there is definite ingenuity and i guess "originality" added on to the familiar.

Webster's definition of originality: The quality of being new and original (not derived from something else).

Don't get me wrong i love these games but it makes a little more sense how the awards were given based on what twisted wrote about the voting.

but i dont have the game myself on xbox live... i just use the MAME version of it which is arcade perfect like the 360's is.

well it was a bit confusing that only nominated games could be chosen by the customers. Because of that, some very cool games (like Outpost Kaloki X) didn't make it to list.

Well, time for me to try Bomberman if it has been rated this good ;-)

Don't get me wrong; I wasn't trying to bash any of those games, but I believe that you're grouping innovations with originality. Mario 64, for example, was innovative as hell, but not very original.

hehe biggrin.gif well I never thought you were bashing those games in fact I took it like you were praising them as "originals". I agree whole heartedly with your Mario 64 comment, and that was my point with the pacman award that while champion is innovative it is not very original. so from your post above I think we were saying the same thing? LONG LIVE PACMAN.
