Bungie to Rectify Fan's Wiped 360
Posted by XanTium | March 3 19:52 EST | News Category: Xbox360

From next-gen.biz:
[QUOTE]
Halo house Bungie tells Next-Gen that it is working on something super-secret to rectify a situation that saw the Xbox 360 repair service wipe the nostalgia from one fan's console.

"Something is already 'afoot' within Bungie to help our community member in need," Bungie community director Brian Jarrard told Next-Gen on Monday. "Our team and the community as a whole is rallying to help fix this unfortunate situation. It's been awesome to see such an outpouring of sympathy and support from our community. We can't replace the exact item that was lost but, but we should come very close."

This is great news for him. This type of support from a developer is absolutely amazing! If this was some kid with a PS3 and had a Metal Gear autographed console that got smudged off, Sony would just say "So!? STFU!"

I'm happy for this kid and all but in all honest, why would you really believe you could send your 360 in with signatures on it and it it would come back 100% in tact? I know customer support told the kid he had nothing to worry about, but why would you believe them? They're not the one who will handle it. They can put an electronic note on their computer about the signatures or shoot an email to the man in charge of all 360 repair centers in the country, but the fact remains that nothing will ever come of it. Some joe-schmo will unpack the 360 to repair it and do what he's trained to do with everyone's 360 he receives to fix and he will have no clue the customer who owns it ever even talked to a support rep -- let alone that they guaranteed it wouldn't get damaged.

Again, I'm glad this kid will get a nice treat from Bungie but imo anyone who would have been surprised when they got their 360 back in a case like that is really stupid. Of course it wouldn't come back 100%.

But, whatever...

Good job, Bungie!

This is a win-win situation for Bungie and the guy who was screwed; homeboy gets some awesome swag/bungie gets huge PR points for a very minimal investment. It will be publicized due to the "warm-fuzzy" it will give everyone who has ever been screwed on anything. Still, a pretty cool move.

Bungie have tracked down the guy who scrubbed it clean and are organising an arse kicking contest for the lad who owns it! Wicked!

My god, they haven't even done anything yet and people are already sucking Bungie's c0ck.

And don't go stroking MicroShit's schlong, Bungie isn't even affiliated with them anymore. They haven't done jack sh!t about this. Just like they haven't done anything about the 360's that are still failing.

Funny but you have a point

I wouldn't be surprised if his previous signatures, if they ever existed, were nothing and it was just a plan to get something amazing for free. BUT it's a cache 22, since you really can't know for sure. Better to err on the side of kindness than always know you may have screwed someone over.

I think it's a cool move on Bungie's part, and that means a lot because I despise every single eternally re-used thing games like Halo flood the market with.

Its funny the amount of people that have so much hate for this kid, not to mention they dont even know him.

The kid was in the right. He went through the proper steps in order to ensure that his product that he paid for would return in the manner he requested. I.E. phone calls and written requests.

Taking this out of the aspect of gaming, I bet anyone would be ticked if, lets say, you send in your tricked out car for repairs and it comes back totally stripped back to original stock OEM.

When it comes down to it. There was a lack of responsibility from a worker or a number of employees at Microsoft when taking care of this particular customer. There should have been some kind of red flag when servicing the product from whom was working on it. Luckily it was only signatures and not some custom one of a kind, once in a lifetime $$$ paint job that was done on it that could have been lost. But none the less, what seems to be non-significant to the people on this site, was indeed significat to this particular person.

Bungie may be doing a fix for the individual for PR reasons, which is buisness, but in the end, if the customer is satisfied, it works out for the customer and the client.

It appears from the mentality of some that if a company craps on its customers, its your responsiblity to lay there and take it. With this train of thought, companies will take advantage of people like those.

Major kudos to Bungie for doing what Microsoft should have done in the beginning.
