CeBIT 2008: Lian Li Shows New Xbox 360 Case
Posted by XanTium | March 3 23:16 EST | News Category: Xbox360

Lian Li already showed us an early prototype Xbox360 case at CES2008, but today hexus.net reports from CeBIT 2008 about their latest Xbox360 prototype case:
[QUOTE]
Lian Li had something special under wraps here at the pre-show day at CeBIT 2008. Hidden in a cardboard box was a pre-production sample of its brand-new Xbox 360 chassis.
Made from its lush, anodised, brushed aluminium, the enclosure features enough space for all the internal components of the console along with pre-prepared water-cooling holes in the rear.
In addition, the chassis has the necessary preparation for Elite owners to transfer their hardware to, with the space for the HDMI already catered for, and the noisy cooling of the console replaced by a single, low-speed 120mm fan on the rear.

Ummm, its', ummm, metal? black? square? UGLY? And with a box that big, who wants external watercooling on top of it? Why not intergrate that inside as well. Looks like the right side could have been for the HD-DVD drive. lol.

That is retarded. It makes it 5 times bigger with 0 added benefits except a 120mm fan...

I dig it. I'm also guessing it'll run much cooler than a stock system due to the 120mm fan, metal case, and more room. (aka better airflow) It also looks like it's got plenty of room for mods.

I don't really get the complaints about it being so big. It's not like its a portable system to begin with. Then again, thats just my opinion and my computer case is considered big to most. (It also runs insanely cool even with a good OC) smile.gif

I would consider getting it if the price was right and they made a way to make the power brick internal (Probably wouldn't be that hard anyways).

Well at least he made the hdd, the power-brick and watercooling internal with all that extra space ... NOT ... dry.gif .

Anyway, if it actually retails for $80.00 it does make a point: $50 bucks plus shipping for a cheap plastic repacement case has always seemed too expensive to me ... I wonder how a standard case, but made out of polished aluminium would look like... and if it would be more effective in dissipating heat... I'd absolutely buy one standard looking all aluminium case for 80 bucks...

honestly though, what were they attempting to accomplish through this case?

uniqueness i suppose, but at a strange level.
