Bungie Unscrews Previously Screwed Gamer: Halo3 Swag Bag
Posted by XanTium | March 7 17:21 EST | News Category: Xbox360
From hawtymcbloggy.com: [QUOTE] Despite the fact that Bungie had absolutely nothing to do with what happened, they wanted to help make things right with Nathaniel. A large box packed full of Halo swag arrived on Nathaniel's doorstep yesterday afternoon. It took Bungie six days total to gather numerous goodies, pack them up, ship it off, and have it arrive at his house. The quickness in which they responded is absolutely astounding. Bungie goes above and beyond with their fans each and every day, but this time they truly outdid themselves.
Unfortunately there is not much of a Microsoft update at this time. John Porcaro (a marketing manager at Microsoft) contacted Nathaniel last Friday after Nathaniel's previous attempts at correspondence went unanswered and had this to say, "We're gamers ourselves, and we're all pretty shocked that something like this happened... Apparently the consoles go through a wash-down process before they're shipped back. You would think that someone would see the case and realize that it would be best to leave it be." While they are working on rectifying the situation, Nathaniel has not heard back from them minus a few emails from M3 Sweat (Chief of Staff of the Windows Core Operating System Division) requesting more information. Microsoft's closing sentiments were, "We're really sorry this happened. There's no way to replace what you had exactly, but we're going to try to get you something similar, if not even more awesome." good for Bungie - not only for the gesture, but also for the speedy response - even though it mostly looks like action figures, controllers, a book, and such - I applaud them for acting in such an altruistic fashion.
thanks bungie, for a company that promises to "take over the world," their kind heart towards fellow gamers really showed through.
i am very glad this guy has had some reparations...

I cannot believe they sent him a big pile of shit. What an insult. Course Bungie didnt screw up the xbox MS did. Still If anything send the boy a 360-halo edition. Signed by the staff and sketched up by the art department.

If I were a kid that would surely make my day. Since I'm a Man what would make my day is to fire the n00b that scrubbed that xbox off. Then watching him as he trys for a dead end job at Burger King.

@downlowfunk
OK, I agree about the sending him a halo edition 360, but c'mon, they did pretty good. Especially when you consider they did it on the freezy, and didnt even make the mistake in the first place.
My hats off to Bungie. I actually get the feeling they give a shit about the people who play their games.

why send him a halo edition 360? he already got a 360 back in the 1st place and now he just scored like $200 worth of halo swag for SCREWING up in the first place. plus microshit says they are gonna fix it.

Its a very kind gesture on the part of bungie, yeah i agree the stuff isnt as good as the original xbox but im sure microsoft will come through for this kid. The PR alone is worth it. Afterall its not like microsoft intentionally did this, it was a genuine accident and the fact that microsoft have the opportunity to shower him in compensatory gifts will result in some very cheap, good publicity for microsoft.

it's unmeasurably kind of bungie but I can't help but feel this is somewhat rewarding asshattery. I mean, who sends a collector's item to MS, not to mention use it in the first place? I would have just kept it safely stored as its value goes up and buy another 360 for general usage.
but there's no denying bungie makes tremendous efforts for its fans.

Nice gesture from bungie, sorry but i think this *pack* is much better than the signed xbox 360, because now he has a 360 halo helmet, and if his 360 needs to be repaired he cand send it without any problem.

This is just marketing for Bugnie but at least they did something. They mean more to me than EA, Sony and MS together. They saw the small guy on the street and compensated him... well at least they tried. There's no compensation for autographs or some unique paintjob but at least he got something. Bungie tried while they've nothing to do with this. What Bungie did is they saw a fellow gamer getting screwed and they helped him out the best they could. If I were him I'd be pretty glad to get a signed 360 and some actionfigures of the Bungie team. They're worth a lot and still I wouldn't sell them. It's a unique thing you'll never going to get again!
Keep the 360 and remember that thousands of gamers felt with you! Bungie did a great job even if it was just marketing.
