Microsoft Expecting Low 360 US Sales In Feb, March

From kotaku.com:
In January, the PS3 outsold the 360, and the sky proceeded to fall in (at least, it did for 360 fanboys). Will the same thing happen in February? Probably, if comments today by Microsoft's Aaron Greenberg are anything to go by. Speaking with Reuters about their current sales and supply situation, Greenberg said:
"We definitely expect we will trail in February as a result of our supply constraints. By April, we will be in a very healthy inventory situation."
QUOTE(scuba156 @ Mar 13 2008, 11:13 AM) your store/town does not supply to the entire country. just because they have alot of consoles laying around, it doesnt mean every where does
Let's be honest now, has anyone walked into any large retail chain and had a problem finding an Xbox 360? A very good indicator of actual supply of a console is usually Amazon.com. A quick check confirms that all 3 models are available, in stock for immediate shipment with free shipping and no tax. Unlike the Wii, which is genuinely supply constrained and therefore almost never in stock at Amazon - if the console is available in all version at Amazon, it's a very good indication that there is plenty of supply available.

Not true, not everyone goes to amazon or a large retail chain to pick up a console, try going to Ebgames/Gamestop.com and look for a 360 within, lets say 200 miles of your locale zip code and go though the list and find out ho many places are sold-out. I went through my list and found several dozen places that were sold out and many more that said 1-3, only about twenty places (on a list a a little over a hundred) showed 4+ so at least in my section of the northeast, supply is down, especially to the PS3 which shows 4+ in almost every store but nothing compared to the Wii which you can't even find just the console on the site.

My area doesn't represent the whole country either, but they're piled up on the floors at Best Buy, Wal-Mart, GameStop, etc... All of those companies have the ability to shift inventory where it's needed so I have to assume that there is no real shortage.

...it starts. Well I for one always thought the PS3 would eventually outsell the Xbox 360. Although that hasn't happened yet, I still believe this is the beginning of the end for the Xbox 360 in terms of popularity. Most people who have wanted a 360, now own one. And thanks to M$' brilliant x-clamp design, many of them have owned quite a few. And for most of the casual gamers in the world, the PS3's Blu-Ray player is very attractive. Don't get me wrong 360 does have more better games, but soon PS3 will have many. And much like the High-def war, the scales will tip in one direction. Except in this case no one's going to throw in the towel. It'll definitely be interesting to see this summer's sales of all the consoles. Because summer time is very slow for games, I think the PS3's Blu-Ray feature will actually keep sales unusually high for a console of it's popularity in the summer time. Just a thought anyway. ~Jason This post has been edited by xboxjason: Mar 13 2008, 07:48 PM
