From digitimes.com:
[QUOTE]
Pegatron Technology and Unihan Technology, two OEM makers spun off from Asustek Computer, have reportedly secured OEM orders for Xbox 360 consoles and will undertake the production at their factories in Suzhou, China, with an initial monthly shipment volume of about 500,000 units, according to industry sources in Taiwan.

In addition to the Xbox 360, Pegatron and Unihan are undertaking OEM production of PlayStation 3 consoles for Sony, the sources noted.

New drives for the awesome guys like Commodore4Ever to hack?

Hmm well the way I read it, they're factory's are going to build the actual 360's, not the DVD drives. Do they make their own dvd drives? Then that makes much more sense.

Anyone know?

Yea, it reads as they're simply going to be manufacturing the boards; not assembling the system. The ODDs will probably remain BenQ for a good while.

As for the PS3s, It's possible that their drives are manufactured there if the drives are anything like the PSX/PS2 drives, which were more laser assemblies, than drives. It's possible that manufacture of the BD parts could in turn drive down costs of components to make BD drives.

Tibet doesn't help in my addiction to First Person Shooters... Nor raise my electric bill each month.

I thought Lite-On had a deal with MS to produce there dvd drives now?

I think this is a very good move from MS clearly there had been many issues over quality with others producing the boards and they have got some one who has proven in PC market to have reliability all they need to do now is get some one from outside USA to design a proper board.

Seriously, the 360 is the only 'made in China' product you've bought? I'm sure there's waaaaaay more than you realise.
