Hello everyone! I have a softmodded Xbox v1.0. It has the XBMC dashboard installed. How do I install the XDK 5933 dashboard? Thank you!

Make a folder in the E:\Apps folder named XDK. FTP the XDK files to E:\Apps\XDK.
To make XDK your default dash depends on where your Xbox boots the dash from. |

I tried putting the XDK 5933 dashboard in E:\Apps, but when I select it in the XBMC dashboard, I get error 21 and have to restart my Xbox. What gives? Hi,
I can confirm that it works with a softmod. I use the Phoenix Bios Loader to load a BFM debug bios. (the one that comes with the Ndure sofmod in the NDTS folder on the E partition.) That Bios is starting the xdk dash from the C partition. (xshell.xbe) As it is a M$ dash, it will probably need files all over the place. So I don't think you can easily dump it in an apps folder and run it there. There is a similar question being answered in the software developer topics. regards. |

Really helpful. If you plan to be a search arse, at least attempt to provide some information, maybe like so: http://www.google.com/search?q=xbox+tsop+f...lient=firefox-a |

I was searching and came across Making a Debug XDK the Easy Way (v0.1). Is this tutorial outdated? Is there a better tutorial out there? Thank you!

QUOTE Installing the Phoenix Bios Loader: Unrar/unzip the Phoenix Bios Loader onto your PC drive, and open up the boot.cfg file in notepad. Edit the Romfile line, changing "xboxrom.bin" to match the name of your BFM Bios .bin file. Replace the blank RC4Key line with the real Debug RC4 Key. Comment out one of the EEPROMKey lines using # (which one depends on whether your XBox is a v1.0 or v1.1), and change the LEDSequence to whatever you prefer the led colors to be. Finally, change the "Debug false" line to "Debug true". Save the file and close it. FTP into your XBox and copy over to your root C:, the following files: * bert.xtf and ernie.xtf (leave them named as this) * boot.cfg * default.xbe (from Phoenix Bios Loader) * phoenix.raw * your chosen 1MB BFM Bios .bin file * rename your original xboxdash.xbe file to "retailxboxdash.xbe" change the "Debug false" line to "Debug true" As far as I can see, this will only make the PBL generate a debug log file with it's progress in loading the bios.... * bert.xtf and ernie.xtf (leave them named as this) not sure why you need this 2 for if your xbox is already modded. * rename your original xboxdash.xbe file to "retailxboxdash.xbe" if you do that on your original c partition, and you have a softmod, you will be greeted with a nice multilanguage error screen upon the next reboot. The Phoenix Bios Loader is a xbox application just like any other dashboard or game xbe. It can be launched the same way other xbox programs are launched. It loads another bios in your xbox and launches it.... Before we had the nkpatcher, it was used as a modding way for the xbox. That's what causes a lot of confusion. regards. |

Hi,
I think it depends upon the version of xbox you are having. You might need another bios for a 1.6 xbox I used the 5558 debug bios. I think it comes with the xdk itself and you can find it on the usual places. The xdk 5933 also has a number of debug biosses included in the package. I also have the TATX_BFM debug bios that works on my xbox. (A 1.0) The complex bios is not working in my case. Maybe it was modified to boot another xbe instead of the xshell.xbe on the C partition. The TATX_BFM has 2 advantages upon the normal bios that comes with the xdk: 1. You can also see your F partition in the xbox neiborhood. 2. You can also run unsigned code. The original biosses need debug signed code. I think that all biosses I found until now are 06 category biosses. This means that they don't allow access to the G partition. regards. |
