Xbox 360 System update now available (no new features)
Posted by XanTium | April 18 14:24 EST | News Category: Xbox360

From majornelson.com (FYI: MS owned blog):
[QUOTE]
A few minutes ago, the team released a system update for the Xbox 360 over Xbox LIVE. Sometime over the next few hours when you sign in to Xbox LIVE you'll recieve a prompt to accept this mandatory update. This update contains code to 'prepare for future growth of the service.' There are no other changes or enhancements in this update...in other words no new features. The next obvious question you'll have is about the Spring update. At this point we have nothing to announce, and the moment there is information to share I will do so.

HeHe all the firmware flash brigade will be along very soon after they get off the toilet.
It's inevitable what the reaction to this is going to be.

Come on give us a change log even if it's only small. All updates imho should have somet sort of changelog i know it's for "competitor reasons" but at least a hint.

No new features...????

I got a special feature with my update!!!! grr.gif As soon as it restarted from the update I got the F*&%ING RROD!!!

I'm no expert, so I couldn't say for sure that it was related.... But it was quite the bloody coincidence!! mad.gif

Before anyone asks - no, my system has not been altered in any way. I was thinking about it for a while, but no longer think it is worth the risk if the damn things are so prone to becoming bricks.

My advice - Put off the update until a time that you won't mind being without your xbox for a few weeks.

Has it occured to you that this small update could just be a new way of detecting consoles and since there's a HUGE game coming out at the end of the month, they might start the ban-wave a day before it comes out or something.

Bottom-line, we just don't know yet what this update does.

It was only a matter of time until some posted that. The update and your RLOD are not related. The RLOD is a hardware failure and not software related.

Is it possible that updating the console puts the most strain on the console, therefore making it more vulnerable to the flaws that makes the console RRoD? I'm no hardcore technician, but it seems plausible.

Yeah I bet there's a trojan waiting to reveal itself soon. That's what MS does around this time. They've been hacking away at the firmware upgrades. They know....they're not stupid...despite what some of you think or want to think.
