MS Keeps Repaired Xbox for 4 Months, Calls You a Thief for Wanting it Back
Posted by XanTium | April 20 11:27 EST | News Category: Xbox360

From consumerist.com:
[QUOTE]
Microsoft hasn't returned Tiffany's XBox 360 for four months because they think she is a thief, even though she has her original receipt and a credit card statement proving that she is the console's rightful owner. Microsoft repaired the XBox back in January and tried to return it via FedEx, but a shipping snafu landed the box back at Microsoft's service center. Tiffany has called repeatedly. She even sent a letter to Microsoft's legal department, after sending her receipt and statement, asking how else she could prove ownership. That was 22 days ago. She has yet to receive a response.

It's a pretty sad state of affairs where the only way issues like this get resolved is when the company is bullied into action by the issue getting publicized.. (see also the autographed console, and countless others associated with game journalism who had to bitch publicly to get their consoles back)

it's stupid that something like this HAS to become news for it to get resolved but kudos to sites like X-S and the consumerist for helping give abused consumers a voice against the apathetic service industry.

What's that saying? "The beatings will continue until morale improves." pop.gif

Hi guys i just read this post and i have to say that i'am owner of a game store and i have the same problem. Before a few months i send a couple of consoles to microsoft and now they refuse to send my customers consoles back because they say that the consoles may be stolen. After a million of phonecalls to microsoft they accept to send my consoles back but now they want all reciepts from my customers. Some of that consoles are 2 and a half years old and customers dont have the reciepts either. So they ask me to send them my tariffs papers in a email to prove that i own that consoles. This tragedy happen first time to me and i have to say that i dont have any problems with microsoft's service after all they exchange all my broken 360's with new one's but this time i'm very pissed off with them because my clients are pissed off with me.Anyway i must wait some days more to recieve the damn machines.

That's why I would let customers deal with MS directly when it comes to warrenty instead of playing the redundant middle-man.. Saves you a lot of time, trouble, and money..

Microsoft knows they can't afford to be bullying their customers over repairs on the 360, they should be making this process as easy and painless as possible for the customer. So far there have been tons of issues and MS has been putting up a struggle and making excuses until finally they're forced to concede under public pressure. It's frustrating enough as it is when you see the RRoD but now you have to worry about your saved games and live account info and achievements, if you're going to get back the same box or some refurbed one, your customizations are gone, you could have the disc read problem, blah blah. Now after all this you may not even see your box!

this is stupid, i'm sick of these retarded stories on xboxscene. i used to love all the news posted on here but lately stories like this make me wonder. m$ has some bad policies that lead to certain cases like this but for the most part, everyone who's had to deal with m$ has had a good experience. give m$ a break and stop getting all excited over stupid stuff like this. all girls want is attention anyways!

OR M$ could just wipe their mouth and admit they rushed in with the 360, i have had cars, bikes, hell even my 3 kids dont give or cause me as much stress as my 360, every time i switch it on the first thing i think is how long will it last this time. but we will all have plenty of time to bitch when gta4 comes out and the downtime begins AGAIN. at least i can fall back on the fact that i can play games on my blu ray player.

This of course is a very confusing situation, as I have never heard about it before.

In any case I would appreciate to know how Microsoft is able to determine that a console is allegedly stolen.

I'm sorry but that is the biggest line of BS. I don't know one person that has had a "good experience". I work in computer repairing, and I put off calling microsoft phone numbers until I have too, just becasue I want to hang myself when I get off the line with them.

And Second I'm all about these stories, keeps you informed on what going on. People should know.

unfortunately this does add insult to injury for MS and their warranty repair service...

of course, they might just be a little overwhelmed right now...

So on what basis is M$ keeping these consoles? ?STOLEN??

So they ship it... somehow fedex or the shipping company delivers it wrong or whatever the reason.. it gets sent back to m$ .... customer calls with serial number and all other info given to them before they shipped it..
and M$ 's response is.. "it could be stolen" ??

Am I missing something?

For what exact reasons do they say that they may be stolen?
