AcidMods Spit Fire Controller Mod
Posted by XanTium | April 23 00:38 EST | News Category: Xbox360

Dubbed the spitfire 360 controller acidmods has chipped 360 controllers to accept programmed chips to aid you and make games between friends a bit more fun. They can be programmed to turn a pistol into a semi automatic or to hit those mad long combos you could never master or possibly to make for some interesting high scores:
[QUOTE]
This mod is fairly simple to do but it will be lengthy. Setting up the controller to accept pre programmed chips is not hard but there are many components to solder and lots of wires. Luckily Microsoft has given us plenty of space to work with.. Please if you do this mod be considerate and do not use this controller for online matches as it will give you a huge advantage with "Insta Kills". AcidMods in no way condones cheating or unfair advantages with that being said lets proceed to part one of this lengthy mod.

Warning!!!! Using this Mod for Online Multiplayer is Cheating and will get your Xbox Banned!!! All though this mod is undetectable using it against other players with out there knowledge will get you bad feed back and will result in a banned account. Only use this mod in Privite games with friends who know you are using it or playing alone in campaingns.

Part one of this mod deals with setting up the socket so you can swap out chips for each game. Since the chips only have so much space to work with and it would be a pain for people to cycle through hundreds of different setups we will limit the macros to five per chip. That means you will have a chip for Halo a chip for Gears of War Etc...

Nice to see this. Looks like a breakthrough almost in controller modding from the "rapid fire" mods I have seen with just the timer chips. Never heard of acidmods I guess they are selling the chips, because the tutorial just shows how to setup the reader.

Although I have to say the X-S description almost seems like a late night paid programming ad for acidmods lol.

Even though it says "should never be used online" you know people are going to use it lol. Even though the possibility of getting banned is even greater on the 360(unlike the shitty original xbox live that doesent ban for it AT ALL) some people are just going to come in and ruin the fun for everybody :/

But lets face it, still a great mod. Hell i might get one of thse myself happy.gif

Damn, where was this mod when I was trying to get the Skate. Rob & Big challenge? I swear I could have saved hours of my life with a controller mod, hehe.

Hmm sick mod but you know Ms is going to be pissed if people start using that on live even though it will be hard to ban them since they cant be detected.

This is just poor programming on the devs part. Never trust your users. Code in hard limits to how rapidly you can fire, and the appeal of this is gone.

Hmmm I could wire it but the whole programming part seems a little out of my leaque although it might be simple? Anyhow mortal combat looks like its gonna have the one button cheat for fatalitys like back in the day lol. i remember i had a playstation controller back in the day that could do the same except for the timer on it this seems to have more control to it. huh.gif

seems like a pain in the ass, you could do other rapid fire mods that require no programming whatsoever, on the other hand this seems a little bit complicated

I'm interested in this mod for a couple reasons. Mainly the fact you can assign any button to the back buttons. I had the same buttons under my original S-controller for A and B for halo 1 and 2 so I could grenade and jump with out taking my thumb off the right stick. I think being able to program different set ups will help out a lot.

This may come off a big whiny, but.......

This is the reason I don't play online multi-player games anymore on 360 or PS3. Between this, glitching, lag switches, etc., you can never be sure that who you are playing against isn't using one of these things (or a combination) to give them an unfair advantage.

Sure, this would be fun to use with a bunch of people also using them in a private match. But, you just KNOW that some jerks will use this online and get away with it.

So, I'll stick to PC online multi-player where things like Punkbuster, etc. makes sure this kind of thing gets dealt with in a timely manner.

((just my 2 cents))

this was on hackaday.com a few days ago where a bunch of people analyized this circuit:
http://www.hackaday.com/2008/04/21/modchip...360-controller/

a few interesting things
1. AFAIK it only works with the new style controllers (made since last november-ish) older controllers use different button circuitry that wont work
2. from what I've heard they did have their source code up at one point but took it down
3. The chip used is ancient in the PIC world a much newer chip could be used at this point that is easier to install (for instance, newer chips offer internal clocks meaning that you could solder the chip straight to the controller with no caps, crystals or resistors and be done with it)

On a whole this thing would be a total breeze to program, If anyone want help duplicating this start a new thread here and shoot me a PM.

Also Twisted we have had some interesting results with some code for the controllers with the issiues. Rather then turning pins high and low we tried turning pins from output to input and back after the code was launched and was successfull in releasing the buttons. so the buttons are still wired and the pins are outputs and the face buttons are not "stuck"... I know you know what this means... So if we can make the buttons un stuck we should be able to control them with code I think it is a matter of just finding what works.. If you want to help please hit me or Nico up and we will get all models working..
