Wow, so instead of a
$1.89 Billion loss, it's amost a million dollars profit in a 1.7 Billion dollar industry (and that's just for March)! Only a 68% rise on an industry that's seen over a 200%+ rise on average compared to the same time last year? Great spin, MS! Your overall declining sales look better now! Nintendo is reaching an even larger market due to expansion in the female and family markets, the PSP and DS are reaching an even larger market than the consoles put together, and MS is touting their minimized losses? As a whole, Vista, Zune, 360, 360 Live Marketplace, and Zune Marketplace sales haven't brought MS up as much as they should have compared to last year..
I'm drunk so you need to verify everything in this post for yourself!
How are their sales declining when it goes from $14.4 billion in sales a year ago comparing to $14.45 billion this time? The sales are increasing slightly. Their profit might not be the same as a whole due to Vista already being out, but they are still making a lot of profit. 4 quarters ago their Zune/ Xbox division were losing $324 million and since they have been profitable. How is that bad when Microsoft achieved their goal of being profitable in their Xbox/ Zune division?
Nintendo built a console where it was profitable from the start, which is good for them, but you cannot compare them to Xbox 360 and PS3 because they are built with a big loss margin at the start. To be profitable when you built a console with a loss mean that your software sales are extremely well to recoup the loss.
