Microsoft Lowers Price on Xbox 360 in 4 Asia Markets *Update*
Posted by XanTium | April 29 00:21 EST | News Category: Xbox360

From hardwarezone.com:
Microsoft today announced it is lowering the estimated retail price (ERP) for its Xbox 360 consoles in Singapore. At the new ERP of S$499 for the Pro version with 20GB hard drive (previously priced at $620), the Xbox 360 will give consumers more accessibility and opportunity to join the high octane world of interactive digital entertainment from Microsoft.

The prices of the Xbox 360 Arcade and Xbox 360 Elite will be lowered too. The Xbox 360 Arcade is now S$399 (previously $459) and the Xbox 360 Elite with 120 GB hard drive is now $699 (previously $799).
Update: Price dropped in Taiwan, Hong Kong and South Korea too ... from money.cnn.com:
The estimated retail price for the model with a 20-gigabyte hard drive was cut 19.5% in Singapore to S$499 Tuesday, while that in Taiwan was cut 17% to NT$10, 360.
The unit price in Hong Kong fell 10.7% to HK$2,499 Tuesday, while that in South Korea will be cut 5.1% to KRW369,000 on Thursday.

If anyone is interested for comparison:

$699 SGD = $514 USD for the Elite
$499 SGD = $367 USD for the Premium
$399 SGD = $293 USD for the Arcade

Hopefully a sign of things to come for the US. Probably not, but one can always hope.

There will almost certainly be some form of price drop in the U.S. in the next couple of months before the MGS4 bundle comes out for the PS3.

That makes the arcade about $310 Australian - it still sells for $399 here.
Waiting for a price drop to buy my last 360.

Hey MS how about lowering the hardware and game prices in Australia to more reflect the US price with which we are close to parity with on the current exchange rate. People here are already importing games from overseas and getting them a lot cheaper.
