How To: Quickly Contact Intelligent Life At XBOX Customer Service
Posted by XanTium | May 5 23:12 EST | News Category: Xbox360
From consumerist.com:
Jason at Doombot has developed a process for reaching intelligent life at XBOX customer service. He discovered this easy 4-step procedure thanks to a XBOX 360 that enjoys not reading discs.
1. Call 1-800-4-MY-XBOX. 2. Get a reference number for your problem as quickly as possible. You may need to say "I already did that" when they try to make you do the troubleshooting script, just to expedite the process. 3. Hang up and call the escalated support number, 866-506-3826. 4. Talk to someone who knows what they're doing.
If everyone starts doing this its just going to piss off service reps and they are in turn not going to be the most friendly people that they already aren't.

Not really. They'll just do what every other company eventually does and switch the way their system works so people aren't doing it any longer.

While it's true that some reps are not well-trained and fit for the job, in fairness, some are actually good and perform well. My team (I'm from Xbox Live TS by the way), usually get high customer satisfaction ratings based on surveys done on customers.
Tough luck when you are routed to an agent who does not really know what he's doing. I have experienced numerous clashes with some reps at the hardware department when we are directly trying to transfer some customers to them via conference. They would do all their best to push us back and insist that it's an Xbox Live issue and should not be referred to them, when it is pretty clear that it is already a hardware issue. There are issues also wherein it's already a hardware issue and some HW people still transfer calls to Live. Good thing I logged their phone IDs and I was able to trace them and personally confront them and report them to their immediate supervisor(s).

Nice to know, but probably by my next RRoD they will have changed it so it doesn't work anymore. I'd love it if they had a website where you could just go through and "follow" those stupid steps that they read off each time and then get a box mailed and everything right from the site. That would not only save the pain of having to deal with someone who has no idea what I'm saying and I have no idea what they are saying, it would also speed up the process. Each time I've had an RRoD it's taken 5-10 calls before I can even get the dang box shipped. That's just ridiculous.

Was that sarcasm? You can do it all online on the xbox.com website.

5-10 calls!! My daughter (14yr old) rang for friend from his house . Gave all the detail. The box was collected and repaired without issue. Took one call, so they do get it right as well. Communication is a 2 way street. A clear concise explanation and pleasant phone manner goes a long way to getting your issue solved first call, even if you are pissed off because you are on your 10th 360 or whatever. 10 days and the number leaked here will be over
