I have a sneaking suspicion that the BluRay Drive is "KEYed" to a PS3 Motherboard, much in the same way that a 360 DVD Drive is.

Can anyone confirm this??

Thanx

yeah it is, all you have to do is switch your original bd board(board under blue ray drive) with the replacement one you have now

the serial eprom on the board has the serial number stored in it for the mother board , swapping this chip between the two boards will make the new one work on your console
