Pachter: PS3 Beat 360 in April, Software Boomed
Posted by XanTium | May 12 15:12 EST | News Category: Xbox360

From next-gen.biz:
Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter believes that the PS3 outsold the Xbox 360 in the US during April, while monthly software sales hit $830 million, up 113 percent on last April's total.

Wedbush estimated April console sales (simExchange predictions):
Wii: 600,000 (734,000)
PS3: 290,000 (363,000)
Xbox 360: 275,000 (381,000)
PS2: 160,000 (n/a)
Once again a giant "meh" from me. The PS2 "won" the last console war, but I vastly preferred the Xbox 1. It literally does not matter who wins, as long as games keep getting made for the system you prefer.

I thought the 360 was suffering supply problems because of Jasper, surely this is to be expected?

GTAIV outsold the ps3 version what... 2:1

it was a system mover on both sides

the last few 'analyst' predictions about the ps3 outselling the 360 or that ps3 gtaIV will outsell in UK turned out to be wrong

i presonally can't believe that these 'analysts' actually get paid for 'predictions'... get a real job you damn hippies

also...

the 360 has been out for a YEAR longer than the ps3... the ps3 only outsold it when it was launched and it has been pretty much neck and neck since then... sony should be ashamed they put out an overpriced blue ray player rather than an actual next gen console... hell the ps2 outsells them both proving that a catalog of fun games will move systems... something the 360 has and most likely will have over the ps3 until M$ pulls the plug on it like it did on xbox1

Exactly. I literally do not put any more merit in an "analyst's" opinion than some random guy on a forum. These guys are not fortune tellers. They are all trying to do one thing and one thing only. That is to stir the pot to get controversy going so people will read their BS.

Exactly who cares who wins. What do I get if the 360 wins? What would I get if the PS3 wins? Unless I get a special prize from MS or sony I could care less who wins.

it matters that the system is at least competitive, as that will effect what system gets the games. beyond that, it is purely bragging rights.

in other news, apparently i'm 1 in 275,000, not one in a million tongue.gif

You know something....this news does not effect me in any way whatsoever... tongue.gif

Congrats on Sony for selling more of their consoles.

Microsoft lost the lead due to their arrogance of pushing out a console with a very high failure rate and consumers are rebelling. Microsoft's Xbox 360 will always be my favorite console regardless of the failures.

The 360's interface is much easier to navigate and Xbox LIVE is amazing.

Well, then you do care. There is a reason why there are still games being made for the PS2, but not the original Xbox. It would be a shame if the lifespan of the Xbox 360 was as short as the original Xbox.

I thought the Ps3 and Xbox were neck and neck in November, with the Ps3 starting to sell more since last December?

You're not grasping the picture right. Just because the PS2 is still selling units doesn't mean squat (other than it's profitable). Furthermore, I don't see how you can call it an 'overpriced' BD player, when it's actually the cheapest BD player (outside of a clearance/YMMV deal). Lastly, the 360 won't have the 'plug pulled' on it like the Xbox 1, as MS had a deal with nVidia that made them kill the Xbox early.

Sony or Microsoft needs to just join forces and create the next best system, or Microsoft needs to revolutionize the gaming industry. What They need to do is make a upgradeable system. Make a system that lets you change out the video card, change out the processor, change out the mb and dvd rom, but not let it be any board, chip, or card from the store, but a separate line of products just for this type of system. So if they wanted they could say every 4 years release a new setup for say $300 that would upgrade your system to the latest and still be able to play backwards compatible games and future games. They could also make it play PC games as well.
