Microsoft Says no new Slim Xbox 360s in 2009
Posted by XanTium | May 13 23:20 EST | News Category: Xbox360

From engadget.com:
[QUOTE]
Sounds like that rumor about a new, smaller Xbox 360 coming next year might have a shorter life than a red-ringing console. Specifying the release of "slimmed down SKU in 2009", Microsoft representative let us know today that "While we don't normally comment on rumors like this, we can tell you that we have no plans to release a new console in 2009".

Well, there is 2010 or there is:

We have no plans to release a new console in 2009............in less the cost of a Blu-Ray drive goes down and we figure out some awesome ways to cool a smaller console and sales of the existing consoles diminish.

Microsoft is not about to say they are releasing a newer slimmer console in a year, that could affect sales of consoles for the next 6 months and they don't want that to happen.

They said no new console in 2009. That doesn't deny a new version of the current console.

That's exactly what I was thinking. They wouldn't call a revised hardware build, a new console.

Doesn't surprise me, they got a lot of problems to fix right now, ROD, DRM, Live (it goes bellyup at random) etc etc they should fix all these problems before making a slim version or they will just make new problems.

they could put the slim version on the normal xbox 360, they would have plenty of room to play with.

Same thought I had as well. Who are these representatives anyway? They might not have been informed of a new, slim console and just knew there were no plans to release the next-generation Xbox in 2009.
