Rumored Spring08 Update Touts 'Motion Sensor' Features, Game Installs and more...
Posted by XanTium | May 13 23:28 EST | News Category: Xbox360
From kotaku.com:
If Microsoft follows the same schedule it did last year, the Spring system update for the Xbox 360 should be right around the corner. Today, an alleged and wholly unconfirmed list of changes included in the "Q2 2008" update was sent to us, supposedly forwarded from an internal source. The full list features about 80 new feature additions, tweaks and changes but was purported to be incomplete and subject to change.
Some are simply interesting as curiosities, such as an option to purchase Xbox Live memberships for charities and the addition of a Media section for audio delivered through feeds, such as podcasts. Others sound more feature robust, such as Windows Live Mail integration and an expanded "Inside Xbox" with news, weather, entertainment, help and community features.
Perhaps the most interesting additions are "Calibration options for motion sensor devices" for the Dashboard and "Support for titles to store installation data on Storage Device for faster loading" for Games.
hmm, hard to tell if this is real or not. the feature to copy music/videos/pictures from a usb storage device or Pc kinda throws me off a bit. MS are big with there DRM, and it doesnt seem like a move they would take.
otherwise, this is a very impressive feature list, and i hope every last feature is true.

A very impressive list, here is hoping its true. Still a lack of clan features, but not really important. I will be so happy if they finally add freaking 4 player private chat, something that should have shipped at launch. Putting install data on the HDD, I thought some games like Oblivion already did that? Wonder if it will be retro compatible, in that older 360 games will work with it.

xbox 360 already supports Divx/Xvid, altough its very restricted. also, there is a website where you can view gamerpics and themes available on xbox live, so you can view them before you pay. google it
installing on a HDD and caching on a HDD is quite different.
