Microsoft: Leaked Concepts 'May Or May Not' Be Real Products
Posted by XanTium | June 16 17:40 EST | News Category: Xbox360
From kotaku.com:
The recent weekend leak-fest, courtesy of marketing research company Intellisponse, yielded lots of possible upcoming Microsoft projects gleaned from surveys. There was the evidence suggesting that Mii-like avatars could be coming to Xbox Live, the rumored "Lips," a possible SingStar-type game, and word that a "social interactive" game show channel might be popping up on Live as well.
"We regularly test all kinds of concepts in market research with our Xbox community," said a Microsoft representative. "These may or may not be real products in development or ever be released to consumers."
Here's a scoop for you. All of it is true, and the 'leaks' are intentional. I'd say this is typical viral marketing. When it all comes out, just remember, I friggin called it.

Sure, if you ignore and forget all the rumors that turned out to be completely untrue, I'm sure any idiot can say it's viral marketing. There's nothing to really gain or lose on your part so go ahead and feel smug about calling it. ...a day later who will give a sh@1.

honestly, i wouldn't be surprised if they had ideas in a board room, then "leaked" the idea to the public before investing to much time into it, and gauge the public reaction. rumors are fun, and at the end of the day, there is usually some truth to them, even if the product doesn't come to market.
