AcidMods DIY FPS Controller for Xbox 360

This is basically how I think the xbox controller should have been in the first place. Its way more comfortable now and my gaming has improved too.
Its pretty obvious from the pics what Ive done. I moved the right hand stick to be level with the left and moved all of the buttons to the back. I happy with the way it came out.

Nicely done mod but personally one of the things I hate about the PS3 joypad is the way they've kept the analogue sticks symetrical, I really find the feel of the 360 joypad more comfy and natural with the staggered analogues but I guess it's all personal pref and if it works for you and improved your gaming then sweet. Great work tho, nicely produced mod.

I saw this yesterday on hack a day. I'm not sure if i'd like this or not. I definitely dont want the left analog to be moved but I'm not sure how natural this would feel in your hand. I do just fine with a normal controller using my right thumb. I'd give it a shot though

While I applaud the modding skills I personally don't agree with the button placement.

It's very nicely done, and I can see why you might want a controller like that (don't remove your right thumb from the stick to press buttons), but IMO it would have been better to just move the ABXY buttons to the bottom-right side, by your right hands fingertips. It's pretty, but I don't like the layout.

Nice mod, and it shows off your crazy skills. But i don't know if I could get used to that. I think I maybe would prefer the D pad and the left analog stick to be switched around.

Cool, definitly more effective. Though you need a set of hands larger than smal. My fingers would never reach the ones on the grey area

Not to shabby of a mod....but i would stick to the factory stick layout and just put secondary jump/reload buttons on the back. biggrin.gif

I happy with the way it came out, too. tongue.gif

Kudos for the ingenuity and ambition, but the button placement doesn't really appeal to a gamer such as myself. Just my opinion.

If it improves your FPS performance, then more power to you. Well done.

I don't know if my gaming would improve with that mod, but holy shit! Very well finished and looks amazingly stock. Love it!

I'm all for modding, but I dont see the point. Although the 360 controller has knicked a few things from others, its by far the best controller to date.

Looks really nice, I definitely think the analog stick placement is a huge improvement. However, how about having 2 copies of the face buttons? Have them on the fins if you want, but put a second copy of those buttons underneath the right analog stick so you can choose where you want to press on them depending on the game.

I messed with something similar to this long ago, never finished it though, just got into the preliminary 'if it could be done or not' stage, saw that it could be and left it at that. It's reminiscent of the FPS controller, minus the Triggers that break if ya look at them sideways. I was a little busy doing Sinister, the Duke360, 360 S, plus PS360 and 3PS60 controllers, so I had my work cut out for me there anyway. wink.gif
