Microsoft publicly said $199 was the sweet spot for console pricing over a year ago. I'm sure they've had a date in mind for that price from the get go.

Let me add that when/if this thing ever gets cracked like the original, a $300/$349 HD media center would be a sweet enough spot for me to pickup a couple more. wink.gif

If $200 is the "sweet spot" for consoles than why don't they just set the price there now? The arcade is almost there already, the 360 still has the highest attachment rate, and they are cutting the prices of the others anyways. Why not just set the arcade's price at $200?

Arcade: $200
Pro: $280
Elite: $360

If Microsoft would stop paying so much for hardware than they could probably get more money from the systems than they do now.

Id lay odds that the Wii price would drop instantly, and just think what Sony would feel.

Sony would be in deep sh*t with the price that it costs them to crank out PS3s. Those Blu-Ray drives aren't cheap, and neither are those cell processors. See what I did there? I just made myself look like an ass. laugh.gif News that's less than 2 hours old: The 80 gig PS3 just dropped to $399, and I'm not joking. That is supposed to be their new base model, so what will the clearout price of the 40 gigs be? Probably $350. laugh.gif

In other news, a new game called MAG (from the developers of SOCOM) will have 256-player multiplayer. Yeah, I'm buying one.

I'd rather get a quiet one for a low price, than have a doggy system for a high price.

The 20gb pro at 299 sounds good and it's a little tempting, but I think I'm going to fight the urge and just wait for my games to come out. By then the 360 pro might be 299 again, and it will have the jasper mobo or whatever... or maybe i'll wait for Vahalla.
I like the idea of having the last model of a system. Worked for xbox1... biggrin.gif
