Does Netflix offer service outside of the United States?

Invite friends to watch the movie with you?? Does your friends have to have the netflix account also? If not, that would be pretty cool. But also these arent hd movies just regular? That would kinda suck.

Apparently not. The video Marketplace and Marketplace content in Europe is still sub standard compared to what the US Live users get. So we get the privilege of paying extra and getting less features/perks for our money, Netflix being one of them.

Blame your government and it's regulatory intrusion on business (or lack there of in others) which makes alot things too expensive to provide competitive service and remain profitable. On average, it takes ten times longer to set up a limited-liability company in Europe than in America, and costs three times more. Business wise, Netflix is doing ok but not great and therefore cannot afford to startup in Europe. Microsoft may own the XBL portal but the content is not all theirs. Since Netflix doesn't exist in Eurupe it therefore doesn't exist on XBL in Europe either. That's the privilege of living in Europe.

Or I could just blame Microsoft for unfairly overcharging Live subscribers in Europe/rest of the world. If we're going to be offered less services/free stuff/content etc etc for our Live subscriptions at least don't charge us double what the equivalent subscription in the US costs. I'm not asking for Netflix but they could at least find an alternative or offer us a different service that is available in this part of the world. We are after all paying them extra!.

You can understand why people outside of the US get a bit pissed seeing the US gamers get new features like Nextflix while we get nothing and are still expected to pay a LOT more.

You also pay more for fuel, food, and alot of imported commodities and electronics. Basically anything that doesn't originate in Europe tends to cost more. ...suppose you want to blame all that on Microsoft too. rolleyes.gif

On the flip side there are alot of thing in the US that cost more then they do in Europe and Asia. Example: Cell phone service is dead cheap in Europe and Asia compared to most of the US.
Did you ever stop to wonder why things cost more and who's tacking on the extra fees/taxes/charges that are raising the prices?

There's no reason Microsoft should be charging £40 a year for a live subscription in the UK. I'm basically paying to use my own bandwidth and my 360 as a server (thats a cost to me not MS). The only thing MS is providing with the gold account is a matchmaking service and I'm pretty sure the cost per member to them is a tiny fraction of that £40. Remember they also like sticking adverts all over the dashboard so they'll no doubt be making big money from selling the ad space on peoples console too. The only reason they charge so much more here is because they know they can get away with it and that there's currently no equivalent alternative.

Personally I don't have a problem paying for Live, I just think its currently over priced and poor value for money. Its also not fair that countries outside the US have to pay more and get less in return (a Netflix equivalent for example). I'm sure your attitude would be completely different if it was the other way around.
