Xbox Live's Worst Demos
Posted by XanTium | July 24 07:58 EST | News Category: Xbox360

From oxm.co.uk:
[QUOTE]
When a demo is done properly, it can create a lot of buzz around an unheralded title. The early days saw Fight Night Round 3 stun 360 owners with its sharp visuals and crunching slow-mo knockout replays.
Later down the line Civilization Revolution, Lost Planet, Bioshock and Burnout Paradise all had stellar demos that did a great job of selling the game in question.

Sometimes it's too easy for developers to fall into a "here's the boss, now the demo ends" trap. Unfortunately, some developers tend to fall even further. Here are the five most disappointing demos, all notable for the fact that they've turned people off the game rather than onto it. They might be free but sometimes, you get what you pay for...

5. Battlefield 2: Modern Combat
4. Sonic The Hedgehog
3. Turning Point: Fall of Liberty
2. Too Human
1. Hour Of Victory

I 100% agree with Turning Point: fall of Liberty... It was such an amazing concept for a video game... almost reminded me of Castle Wolfenstein...

But I downloaded the demo just to dip my feet... I played it for about 10 minutes and It was by far the worst game I have eVAR played... and Somehow the game glitched and I was walking outside of a fence after I was hanging from some water pipe... Terrible game...

I didn't Buy Turning Point because the Demo was sooo terrible...

And btw I saw the headline... and I knew before even looking TP would be on here...

I agree with most of the games but I have to say that while the sword control is a little shit too human demo actually made me want to play it more which before I played it I really didnt care one way or the other. I know bad company demo is not on there but I dont know how many people I spoke too that got put off by that demo and yet not a bad game! Turning point just sucked as a game which showed in the demo lol.

Unfortunately the Turning Point Demo was an accurate portrayal of the actual game laugh.gif I own that turd.

I'm surprised that they didn't have some older examples on there like Full Auto... that was one demo that killed the game sales, though personally I tried the game anyway and loved it..

I actually thought the too human demo kicked ass. But I had decided early on that too human was going to suck, simply because of their crying over that Gears E3 thing.

I mean, some of the controls were weird, and the setting makes no sense at all (well atleast from what I took from the demo), but futuristic techno space-vikings with laser guns? Hells yea, I'm in for some of that.

I have to agree Too Human is a terrible demo. I really never care to play that game again.

Turning Point I agree with the previous person who said they were looking forward to it. I was, too. I thought it had the potential to be the best shooter in many years but they failed.

I thought that the Too Human demo was cool. I don't understand all the hate this game is getting. Is it only because of the admittedly weird controls (which I liked, personally), or is it some "political" thing aimed towards the developers that has nothing to do with the game itself?

I haven't had a chance to play the demo yet, but I was telling a friend I had heard BF: Bad Company was good, and he said he played the demo and wasn't impressed. That's not good.

I can't begin to tell you guys just how many times i fell off the stage on the sonic demo. I think they gave you something like 7 lives to which I lost them all and had to restart it over. The camera system is so horrible too.

I think the best demo I tried was Skate. Once you were done with the tutorial the timer never ran out. You could just keep freeskating in the skatepark for as long as you liked. I ended up buying the game because I wouldn't quit out of the demo.

I'm not sure why the battle field demo is on there as it was one of the most played demo on xbox live.

And the too human demo was amazing once people realized that we could play as all the classes that is.

Plus the Too Human Demo was 7th Most Played Game on Xbox Live.Source

That is the 7th most played game not just demo, but game.

Was the Too Human demo based on their early attempt at using the Unreal Engine ? If so, I can understand why a lot of people would think it sucked. They apparently had a lot of problems with the UE3 and that's why they sued Epic. The latest trailer for Too Human looks pretty good, though.
