Bungie president 'certainly didn't agree' with decision to postpone E3 reveal
Posted by XanTium | July 25 00:45 EST | News Category: Xbox360

From eurogamer.net:
[QUOTE]
Bungie president Harold Ryan has denied "laughing" when Xbox boss Don Mattrick told him that the studio's latest Halo product would not be shown at E3.

"Keeping things clean, I certainly didn't agree with the decision to delay our news until sometime after E3," Ryan told Eurogamer today.
"Bungie is always concerned first and foremost with our fans. Whenever we are prevented from exceeding their positive expectations it is not a laughing matter."

At the end of the day this is a + for bungie
instead of at e3 people saying oh halo 52 or whatever it is

people are telling theyr mates about ms stopping them anouncing it
so when the game does get anounced it will be more well known

Bungie are true showman and even though the reality is their games aren't really all that inovative since the first halo, they're like vanilla but f@#$en great vanilla!
Vanilla wrapped in bacon, involved in a helicopter chase with ninjas on fire through a hospital zone (I think that was how halo2 was to be described). smile.gif
Anyway the point of what I'm saying is that I don't think MS wanted to be upstaged by bungie as they're now not part of the fold anymore so to speak. I especially think Bungie were pissed off about being forced to pretend the 360 doesn't have a HDD, given the way they've developed the previous halo games that would have been a real thorn in their side.
I'm guessing that it may have been one of the reasons they decided to depart from MS's banner, we all know at least three third party games have relied on the 360 having a HDD, I wouldn't be surprised if we saw Bungie's next game do that also.

Maybe MS thought showing something original would make all there other news look retarded laugh.gif anyway I think it's probably a good thing it's delayed....it probably wasn't ready as a demo or something anyway....And we all remember the Killzone 2 trailer laugh.gif

Perfect 'PR' in my mind, now everyones talking about the news Bungie didn't tell us @ E3.

Work it out this is probably higher PR than actually revealing the news itself. Very clever marketing if you ask me blink.gif

Whaaaa

Bungie needs to get over it.

they wanted to be independent... now they know what its like to be an independent developer vying for the attention of their publisher.... just like nearly every other 3rd party development house.

You can't have your cake and eat it too.

Why couldn;t bungie have set up their own booth at E3 to show off their project?

Because your publisher has all your money: When they say jump, you better get your legs springy - and quickly.

Well, if Bungie's announcement is indeed regarding another game in the Halo universe, then Bungie doesn't really have much of a say about when and how they can announce it. Halo is owned by Microsoft, not Bungie.

I don't get it! was he laughing when Don told him about the decision to postpone E3 reveal? or what?

and later in the same interview he said
