What Nintendo has done with the Wii is that they took a GameCube, put some fancy controller in it, paint it white and sold it for a ridiculous cheap price. It's obvious that an outdated cheaper console would sell more than the new generation, but the problem is that the games look like CRAP !
It's just like the PS2 that to this day still outsells the 360 and PS3, but the difference is that the PS2 is more powerful than the Wii.
This statement is incorrect, but has some truth to it. Do more research on the Wii. It has a very strong niche in the gaming market, and is quite a powerful console. It is accurate to say, "Nintendo has done with the Wii is that they took a GameCube...", but the rest of the statement isn't really true. It does include every capability of a gamecube and is similar in architecture and operation.
It's a great seller because it's selling to a different type of consumer. Trust me, I know this... I have Wii, XBOX360, and PS3. I hated the Wii when it came out. I bought a PS3, first. Later, I bought my girlfriend a Wii, because I was tired of hearing about her wanting one; I still thought it was stupid. Later, I bought an XBOX360 from a friend who needed the money.
I'm NOT defending the thing... I still have ill feelings toward it just because everyting's mario this, mario that... but ... It's about the only of the three systems that gets played... and it's fun. No the games are nothing like XB360 or PS3, but I
really don't think that was there intention. The games
are fun. It just depends on what you like. I have a pretty busy schedule and honestly never feel like I have the time to play the games I have for XBox360 or PS3 due to their involvement. Hell, I can sit down with the girlfriend and play some of the simpler wii games in 30 minutes or less.
Don't get me wrong. I love the high end graphics and great online playability of the other two systems. I was just giving some fact. There was much more to the Wii than a Gamecube with a remote and a white box. That one I know inside and out.
