I have a Hitachi 0078 and it will not spin, I've put the main board in another hitachi drive and still no spin. I'm able to get the drive into modeb with a slax start-up disk and recognize it with windows but it does me no go if it wont spin. Does anyone know or can recommend anyone who will remove the tsop chip and get the key so I can just replace the drive? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try downloading the v79 unlock pack from here

Get the drive in modeb and note the drive letter.

Open the directory of 79unlock in a command window and type

memdump79 X 12000 8 8000 orig.bin

X = drive letter

Then open the resulting orig.bin in Toolbox and see if its valid.

I tried to put a 0047 in but my SIL chip set didn't work so I installed a MS28 and it working beautiful.
