I have upgraded from the (I can't sit still, even when XBOX is not being bumped) Matrix MOD, to the X2 lite MOD, so I am kinda new to this again. I have downloaded the latest BIOS, but have 2 files. One is 256k, and the ohther one came in a rar with a bat file to make it 1mb, and the igr fix file.

What do I do now, should I make the one file 1 mb and use that, or use it as is, or use the 256k file instead, and forget about the rar file?

I believe you can use either. I know my BIOS currently is flashed with 4976.02 256k multiversion, but also that the X2Lites can accept BIOS files up to 1 megabyte in size.

I'd say forget about making the BIOS 1 megabyte and just install the 256k version.

I know that, at least on the X2, if you give EvoX a 256k image it will automatically mirror and make a 1mb image out of it.

The X2 BIOS is only a 256k so you can use it on the homebrews and older commercial mods, future BIOSes (like the X3 BIOS when it comes out) will have a lot more features, meaning that more than 256k will be needed for the Bank size.
