I love competition!! You shouldnt have to buy all three consoles and a PC to get all the good games. That's just dumb. Hopefully there will be less and less exclusives in the future.
The problem with cross-platform games is that none of the systems are used to their full potential. If you're building a game for the PS3, you only have to worry about the routines and APIs that the PS3 has. If you start making it for the 360, then the routines that you've written for the PS3 APIs have to be rewritten OR you only use the APIs that both have, thereby losing performance. Also, exclusives promote competition. If everyone gets every game, only one system gets purchased, usually the first to market; if that happens, then why should anyone else release their console?
And, Brandogg, the 360 is leading in games. The Wii may have more consoles sold, but (according to data compiled by Game Informer) the 360 has a higher percentage of good games based on metacritic (and similar) scores. The Wii is full of shovelware, the PS3 and 360 have much better QC departments. So, technically, the MS guy is right.
BTW, I'm still happy I bought my PS3. It still turns on. F'ing RROD.
