Rock Band 2, Guitar Hero: WT and Rock Rev Instrument Compatibility
Posted by XanTium | August 19 18:56 EST | News Category: Xbox360

From the Xbox PR Blog:
[QUOTE]
I was forwarded a link to an article on the Playstation Blog this morning that stated Sony has announced that all of the instruments in three upcoming music games (Rock Band 2, Guitar Hero: World Tour, and Rock Revolution) will be compatible with each other.

At the bottom a Gamasutra article about the blog post it stated:
"Similar music game peripheral enforcement has yet to be enacted (or at least officially announced) on the Xbox 360 platform."

For the record, we also do that, so consider this an official announcement.
All the instruments from Rock Band 2, Guitar Hero: World Tour, and Rock Revolution will be cross-compatible.
In other words, welcome to the party. ;)

Are they sure? Pics I've seen of Rock Revolution's drumset show it having six pads while Rock Band's only has four...

So, do they plan on releasing a patch or update somehow? cause they're not all compatible now.....glad they settled their differences, though, cause it sucks when the gamer has to suffer because of their stubborness

PaddyPat - It sounds like this applys to next generation games only (Rockband 2, GH:WT, Rock Rev) not Rockband 1, GH3 etc. Therefore no patch is required as none of them are out yet

it's pretty stupid not to make your instruments compatible with each other.. that just means less people will buy your game.

the only reason i got rock band was because i already had a guitar hero guitar.. my girl eventually bought the drums, but i doubt we would have even tried rock band if the guitar hero guitar didn't work with it.

Rockband 1 stuff will be forward compatible with rockband 2 though. Does that mean it will also work with guitar hero wt?

GH4 changes the drum track to 4 buttons plus the kick pedal when you use the Rock Band drums.

I read it on IGN. It's the only possible solution - I don't think it will necessarily make it easier to play, there's just less variety.

im still struggling to understand compatibility of GH world Tour instruments with RB 2.

I understand that RB2 will work with Guitar Hero World Tour but is it also the other way around. B/c if so i think the smart buy here is the Guitar hero World Tour

The instruments from both games will work on both games. It doesn't get any simpler than that. Everything from Rock Band 2 works on Guitar Hero World Tour, and everything from Guitar Hero World Tour will work on Rock Band 2. This goes for the Wii version as well, now.

ahh finally a beautifully stated response that all but solidifies my purchase of Guitar Hero World Tour. I look at so many website but i could find and answer like you put it. they all seemed to say that Rock band 2 shit will work with GH:WT

I was also wondering if anyone knows how it will actually work. Like how do the Guitar Hero Drums work with RB2 game and vice versa

Ironically, Sony was first to announce this supposed compatibility, but they failed to actually work with Harmonix to make sure it was implemented. Now that GHWT is out, it turns out that the PS3 GHWT drums are NOT compatible with RB2. X360 compatibility, on the other hand, works just fine. http://www.rockband.com/forums/showthread.php?t=94675
