Xbox 360 fall update arriving in November?
Posted by XanTium | August 25 18:21 EST | News Category: Xbox360

From gamespot.com:
[QUOTE]
What we heard: Not to belie the obvious, Microsoft has thus far only said that the dashboard overhaul will be rolled out this fall. However, confirmation of a more narrowed release window appeared to arrive earlier today. After attending a Microsoft London event last week demoing the new update, a representative of the publisher reportedly told UK gaming blog RPG-TV that the dashboard revamp would be pushed live in November.
"I'm not sure if this has been confirmed already or not but I was told the new dashboard would arrive in November," said the gaming blog.

The official story: Unfortunately, it appears as if RPG-TV's information was either erroneous or off the record. After contacting the publisher to confirm the validity of the information, a Microsoft representative told GameSpot, "We have not yet announced the timing of the fall update."

Bogus or not bogus?: Bogus that the fall Xbox Live dashboard update is a lock for November. However, given that the hardware maker's last two fall updates arrived at the end of October and the beginning of December, a November launch is certainly possible.

I can't say I'm looking forward to the new dashboard itself, but I'm exited to see it, and hey, maybe I'll like it.

I hope we don't have to wait too long for it. I just want to be able to play my games and watch HD DVDs with the new 1680x1050 display setting. It would be good if they release it just before Gears 2 biggrin.gif .

I can't wait for it. I just want to be able to play games, PERIOD. My DVD drive likes to scratch disks and give unreadable errors for no apparent reason. My hope is the new install-to-HDD feature will allow me to play my games again without errors/ruined disks since the disk will only spin up for a very brief period to validate it.

It looks too flashy and not practical, then again I think the XMB looks absoloutely fantastic on the PS3, it's simple, very fast, not too flashy, not too plain.

Then again the new MS dash will allow load to HDD which is a sorely sorely needed feature.

LOL, they actually expected MS to confirm this November date. They wasted their time even contacting MS as anyone following the new dash would know that there hasn't been any hints at a release date other than "Fall" and MS won't comment on rumors or off the record comments.

And of course November is still a possibility. The author(s) of this article is/are fairly stupid imo, but whatever.

I am really looking forward to it (the new dash). More than anything, I want to customize my avatar and buy some clothes for it (even though it's been discussed that premium content for the avatars won't initially be available right away).

I also look forward to the games off the hdd and the new friends list. Those are the 3 things that excite me the most.

I'm really looking forward to the netflix integration the most I think. $4.99 a month to watch a ton of movies on demand. You can't beat that really. It may even drive me to buy a 2nd console for the bedroom.

That is what im looking forward to the most. However, I can't help but think...it will come when it comes. Why are we already seeing rumors as to what month, day, year whenever the new dash will be coming out. Microsoft will tell us anyway.

Of course it'll be November; the fall updates always arrive "just before winter".

I know quite a few people who are waiting on this. I have a friend with some troubles with his DVD drive (he's too cheap to pay me to fix it tongue.gif) will more than likely benefit from it, as well. I wish there would be some way to officially catalog my original discs for the new install feature to save getting up (like if there were a cost efficient way to have a multi-disc holder that could verify I had the disc), but hopefully the decreased load times will be more than enough to keep me happy. I'm sure in due time somebody will conceive a way to verify ownership as well as adding convenience to the consumer.

Although i think the netflix deal is going to be pretty neat, everything is supposed to centered around HD goodness. I understand why, but its disapointing we'll be watching SD highly compressed movies on our big screens... uhh.gif

Things that interest me are being able to access more options from the guide menu, keeping parties together when switching games, and group private chat.

I'm sure it'll probably be November. I don't know why MS doesn't just call them Winter and Summer updates and stop getting hopes up for people who don't know how these things go.

quite honesly, i don't believe this BS article, wanna know why? I was on live a few weeks ago right, loaded up to the dashboard. There was someone else on here who was like I cant wait for the new netflix feature which is supposed to be released with the dashboard. Well there was an ad on the dashboard when I loaded it up that said coming in SEPTEMBER for nexflix and since netflix will be associated with the new dash im sure, it will actually be in SEPTEMBER, not November retards. It's all BS and speculation, but it seems a little more realistic to have it in Septemeber.

Well it should be before October 28, 2008. Because that is when Scene it? Box Office Smash is coming out, and that is going to be the first game to use Avatars.
