i have a modded box with a Xecuter 2 in it. every so often it would simply stop loading the dashboard. it would kinda just hang there at the xBox Logo that appears when you boot up. eventually it would come back with an Error 13 and sometimes 7.

don't ask me why, but i used to temporarily fix this problem by opening the box up and unplugging the IDE cable and power supply to the HDD. i'd let it sit for a minute or two, plug em back in, and presto! it would miraculously work again!

well, now it simply gives me the Error 7 code and doesn't do shit from this point. i understand this error means a bad IDE cable. but, i'm inclined to believe it's something else since i've swapped out the cable and still no luck.

i'm not familiar with these Xecuter chips (i was given this xBox) so i don't know how to fix this problem.

anyone out there have the same problem and know how to fix this?

thank you!!

Error 7 is HDD timeout.

Sounds like a dead or dieing HDD.

If my HDD is going bad, is there a way to save the data on it if this box doesn't boot to the dash?

i have about 200GB on this HDD that i'd like to retrieve. anyone know how to do this? thanks for your help!

Alex, you are absolutely no help at all. have you even read this post?

your response tells me you either haven't or you simply don't understand what i'm talking about.
