PAX 08: A few fresh New Xbox Experience tidbits

What exciting dash goodness? Check the list below:

* Holy beautiful transitions! This latest Fall update build included never before seen transition effects including nifty fades, smooth sweeps and (our personal favorite) the guide pop up animation. We can't explain the transition effects, but trust that their addition definitely enhances the overall dashboard experience. Yum!
* Dashboard themes will now instantly load a preview when hovered over. And, as an added bonus, the preview loading effect is sexy as hell.
* While in a party, each person's gamer picture is placed on the top right hand side of the dashboard. When alone and party-less, only your gamer picture and gamercard are displayed.
* Your overly Wii-like Avatar's comic-style text balloon displays your gamercard's motto.
* EVERY Xbox 360 game's Xbox.com information (including game description, features and screenshots) is pulled into the dashboard while browsing the Xbox Live Marketplace.

I can't wait until it gets here.

The first game I'm dumping on the hard drive will be Oblivion.

Watched the video clip. Very impressive, seems to run pretty quickly with smooth transitions. Party mode looks nice and the avatars look good too.

Installing games to the HDD is cool too as it will cut the DVD noise down too.

All good.

I am deffinately getting pretty excited about this.

Any idea if when you are the party leader, can your party members watch Netflix movies with you even though they themselves dont have a netflix account?

so does this make downloaded gamerpics useless? or what about personal pics with the webcam? I hate the idea of avitars but if its forced on us it would be cool if you could use the webcam to make an avitar of you're own likeness like on rainbow 6

if you still have to use the disc, why is dumping the game on the hdd so important?

I was just curious.

The drive won't spin the disc during the whole game, just when you load it to check that it is a 'genuine' disc. IMO it will sound like when you turn on the unit with a game in the drive and the boot option is set for the dashboard; just a quick spin up then spin down.

You gamerpic still looks like it's being used in the upper right of the screen. When your in party mode it shows all the gamerpic's of your party in the upper right corner of the screen as well.

And I agree, I would LOVE to see them implement the camera into making an Avatar like in Rainbow 6.

And to the poster asking for advantages about loading the game to the HDD. Besides the drive being quite because of not spinning while playing the game, it should also speed up load times as well. Not to mention this will save wear and tear on your disc drive as well.

Still looks like greased fail, but whatever. Seems the sheep have spoken.

All hail a bunch of worthless, slow 3D effects.
