Hello all,

I am new to this forum and this is my first post so please be gentle....lol

I have 1 xbox 360 That has a bad disc drive model # of drive is----TS-H943 Toshiba Samsung
H/W :006 -- Ver.A -- F/W=ms28 --June 2006 -- Not sure on Rom Version

I have another xbox 360 that has the dreaded 3 red lights that wont go away model drive is-----GDR-3120L
Hitachi LG Rom Version is 0078FK not sure on F/W or H/W Versions.

The question is i am not trying to burn games and all that.
All I would like to do is put the working Hitachi LG drive in the working XBOX 360.
What is all involved to make that happen? I know that there is a key code that needs to be sent
to the drive when i swap them.Thats all I know

I have downloaded the Toolbox's latest version and i am pretty handy with a PC.

Can anybody help a brother out here Kinda point me in the right direction that would be AWSOME!!

Thanks.......................III BiRdMaN III Your fellow GaMeR

Google "xbox 360 textbook"..

It will explain how to extract the key from the Samsung and place it into the Hitachi.

You will need a NFORCE or VIA chipset.

When you say chipset are you talking about the adapter that I need to attach to my PC?

Any suggestions on chipsets that you know work with those drives..............

Thanks..............Again for your help

^^^^ PLEASE EXCUSE THE NooB ^^^^

From reading the tutorial the SATA chipset must be on the mother board of the pc (SO I THINK)

In other words a SATA chipset adapter will not work (I COPY THAT)

Thanks...............III BiRdMaN III

First you need to find what sata you got. If you not got any on your pc then you should buy a via 6421 pci card it plugs in to your mother board easy peasy. Your right in thinking a usb adapter wont work. They are ok for the older hitachis though. You will be ok using a floppy to dump your fw from your samsung I dont think you can brick it by just reading the fw.

Then again depending on whats wrong it would probly be a lot easier to just swap the laser's out I think they the same.
