From the Microsoft press release
[QUOTE]
Xbox today announces a unique initiative that will enable entertainment fans to see some of the most anticipated new movies before their theatrical release.

The "Xbox LIVE Film Club" will be delivering a number of sneak preview screenings to a select group of Xbox fans in an exclusive setting, giving them the chance to see brand new movie titles before anyone else.

Commenting on the new programme and the films lined up, James Houlton Xbox LIVE Marketing Manager, Microsoft UK said: "We've got some truly compelling blockbuster titles and HD content on our Xbox LIVE Video Store service, with recent smashes Cloverfield, Stardust, Beowulf, The Kite Runner and I Am Legend all resonating extremely well with our audience. Now with the launch of the "Xbox Film Club", Xbox fans will be able to get the jump on their friends and see some of the biggest films of the year before anybody else."

But it's not just the lucky Xbox LIVE Film Club winners who get see great movies, as a raft of new films are being constantly added to LIVE Video Store. The past couple of weeks have seen the addition of No Country For Old Men,10,000BC,The Bucket List and crime classic Bullitt to name a few.

For more information on how to win the chance to get involved with the Xbox Film Club, head to www.xbox.com/filmclub

I think the wrong link is given in the press release. It should be http://www.xbox.com/en-gb/live/filmclub . Not very exciting IMO. You have to win a comp to join the "Xbox Live Film Club" from what I understand...
"For the chance to win this exclusive opportunity, please send an email containing your name, gamertag, email address and the name of your favourite film currently on Xbox LIVE Video Store and a review of that film in 50 words or less. Send your entry to xboxlivefilmclub@jcpr.com by 11:59 GMT on Tuesday 9th September. The competition is open to over 18s only, terms and conditions apply."

Are you kidding, its extremely exciting. If you are the winner, it basically means xbox live will pay for itself as long as they have at least one new movie a month up. Oh, I get it, you must not be 18 yet.

eh... i could care less. this does nothing for me. how long has cloverfield been on dvd? beowulf? i am legend? movies on live are no better than pay per view... after the dvd has been out for a while it finally makes its way to live.
as far as being able to watch movies that are still in theaters, like tropic thunder, if i really want to see one, im not gonna sit around and wait for the slight chance that ill be a winner.. only to see the movie a while after its been debuted at theaters. if its a big one like iron man or dark knight, im gonna go see it!
i can see how some people would like this, but its also lame you have to send an email with your info and a 50-or-less word review of a movie on live. they should just choose gamertags at random and send them a message if theyve won.

New features and services are always better. It shows that they haven't abandoned the X-Box as a media source. I loved watching all the Olympics through NBC Olympics on my X-box. Being able to watch only the events you want when you want was great! And you could skip past their silly Lenovo commercial.

It's all a matter of opinion really. From the title I thought it was going to be some new feature like a Netflix equivalent for the UK or something. But, it's just a bit of publicity for Marketplaces outdated movie list and a comp to go to a private preview screening of Tropic Thunder down in London on the 12th. Not a premiere or anything fancy like that just a bog standard preview. There's a preview screening of Tropic Thunder in my local Odeon (Odeons across the UK in fact) on the 9th AND the tickets are given away free first come first served! (same thing happens with all new movies).

Maybe you were jusy being sarcastic, I don't know.

I'm in my twenties so nothing stopping me from entering, it's just not worth the time/effort. Maybe "Xbox Live Film Club" is super exciting to you but it doesn't do anything for me.
