1) Interesting and I guess useful if you have two small TVs. Will this work if you use item 10 with the component cables and the HDMI cable?
2) Now why didn't I ever think of that
3) Looks like a scraper like my XMC360 skin douse but still cool
4) I hope you and the people you want to connect to have fast connections. Microsoft put a ridiculously low ping requirement into the lan play.
5) I never knew that, that's freekin cool.
6) It's probably easier to run a cable. Or maybe use a program called winroute.
7) Not exactly a secret, I've been doing it for a while and I never downloaded that plug in. It just takes 20 min to load the songs
8) Nice trick if you and your friend have the same cables but different resolution support. Outside of that the 360 keeps the settings for the different cables.
9) TVersity is a great program that I've been using for a while for all three of my systems and my palm. Too bad my server is far to slow to support the active encoding for the unsupported video formats.
10) They sell cables that have that part cut out. a friend of mine has an HDMI to DVI cable and had to get one for the audio.

Go and download the plug in and the songs wont take 20 minutes to load, I use an ipod photo and it loads the songs instantly.....

6) It's probably easier to run a cable. Or maybe use a program called winroute.

If you're using routing (or worse, proxying)*, you'll have to deal with all kinds of port-forwarding crap. I last used winroute in 2002 or so, and it was obsolete back then: Linux did everything it promised to, but better and for free. Now Windows does everything you need too, if you're not a large office complex.

In short, way better to use Windows' ethernet bridging. Better still to just buy the wireless adapter.

* If you look at the incredibly outdated and irrelevant OSI model, bridging happens at layer 2, routing layer 3, and proxying layer 7. Without a lot of port-forwarding and DNS black magic, the 360 won't even work behind a proxy.

Because your telly might lack an S/PDIF out.

Techradar is just trying to grab some attention by trying to spin this otherwise mediocre news article with an air of controversy and pretending the information is actually "secrets" from Microsoft. Just because something isn't common knowledge hardly makes it a "secret". Some of the information given is either completely irrelevent to most people or more trouble then it's worth to do. That's the more rational reason why Microsoft doesn't waste resources advertising it.

it takes a few days before your console starts blogging but I've had a 360 blog for about two and a half years now (this article is timely eh?)

it's entertaining for a while but it gets really repetitive.

the stat tracking that gets provided is really cool though, you can see how often you've played certain games, and the site has some cool "badges"... essentially achievements for achievements. laugh.gif

Yeah 360Voice is good fun for a few weeks but after a while you start to see the repeat entries and the novelty wears off. I started mine as soon as I bought a 360 back in 2006 biggrin.gif .

It's a good laugh, I recommend setting it up.

Be nice if TVersity didn't look like shit (worst interface ever!)
Nothing comes close to XBMC, the PS3 or the 360 with TVersity, MP11 etc, they still blow for media playback :/

Yeah, 360voice is pretty neat. I only wish you could export the data it keeps to excel so I can mess with it.

For #6, it's easier to turn on internet connection sharing. Then laptop connects to your router wirelessly and the ethernet port is used only to share the connection with the laptop. By doing that, you don't need to turn it off after you are done sharing the connection.

None of these tricks really seem all that interesting.

4. Play Xbox 360 games online for free - without a Live account

Does this work with a system that is banned from live?
