Dvd Playback Problem Options

I've searched, but to no avail. I am unable to play regular store bought DVDs with my soft-modded box running SVN_2008-09-08_rev15452-T3CH. Once the dash is loaded, I pop in a dvd and the screen goes black, and bounces back to the main menu. Anyone have any ideas whats wrong?
