Looks to be a quality product, but its still an analog signal thats transmitted through an hdmi cord. It also should have more than one component input.

I dont see whats so great here. I have a dvi->hdmi cable for my computer and my TV has 3 hdmi ports and 2 component, It isnt making the signal magically better and it would be one more thing to get up and switch.

Good for someone like me looking to buy a HDMI based AV receiver however the question which I've got is, is this any better then the MadCatz solution? Someone told me that you can't get 720p DVD upscaling on the Madcatz HDMI adapter, or is that just bunk?
I like the idea of the Madcatz HDMI because it doesn't require a separate power (it just plugs into the 360 AV port).
Someone who knows stuff might be able to explain this to me

i didn't know you could get a TV that had hdmi ports and didn't have component's?? what is the point of this? even 95% of receivers now have hdmi and component.. adding another device in the mix wont make the picture better..

Sounds pointless, I'd rather trust the TV's components to do the conversion. I know trapping the signal earlier on can preserve quality, but it can't make that much of a difference when the signal is analog in the first place. Besides, while most games display at 720p and most HD sets out there are at 720p, the 360 component cable is perfectly capable of carrying such a signal faithfully. I've got both the HDMI and component cables, and they look the same, I've tried it out on at least 6 games and couldn't see any difference on a 120Hz 50" 1080p LCD w/15:000:1 contrast ratio. I have a few HDMI devices and have no problems keeping the 360 on component to free up a needed port if it became necessary.

The person who said you can't get 720p for DVDs with the MadCatz adapter is correct, because it's a component to HDMI adapter (same thing with this product), so the 360 thinks it's outputting over component, which CSS limits to 480p. The 360 upscales DVDs like pure shit anyway, the HD-DVD drive does a slightly better job, but a $40 upscaling DVD player would be a much better choice...or an XBox with XBMC.

People are actually paying for this? Why would you want a HDMI converter for a ps2 or an xbox? The signal going into the converter is analog so it's still going to come out looking like analog regardless of if its being transmitted through an HDMI cable.... This is just another thing that you have to stand up to switch on and off.... pointless.

Well, at 45 percent of the cost of a new, quieter, HDMI Xbox, I guess it's worth it.

I have a few HDMI devices and have no problems keeping the 360 on component to free up a needed port if it became necessary.

HDMI can be switched like SCART, so in theory you could use this device to autoswitch your legacy Xbox with other HDMI devices. Y'know, if you've got like five HDMI devices, I suppose.
