Media Create: Xbox 360 Outsells PS3 In Japan Again
Posted by XanTium | September 26 02:03 EST | News Category: Xbox360

From kotaku.com:
[QUOTE]
For the second week in a row, Microsoft outsold Sony on its home turf, with the Xbox 360 beating out the PlayStation 3 on the Media Create weekly sales charts. That's likely due to the console's recent price drop in Japan and the effects of the one-two software punch of Tales of Vesperia and Infinite Undiscovery.

• Wii - 29,921
• Xbox 360 - 13,777
• PlayStation 3 - 8,156

And in spite of the RROD history. Interesting.

Sony says value = stagnant sales.
MS has a solid RROD history = increased sales.

Who would have figured. Apparently value defined by the consumer is different from the definition a corporate greedy pig has. CGP's definitions are based upon fat headed narcissism in the first place, in my opinion.

its not about the RROD's, its about the games dude.

To all developers: KEEP THOSE JRPG'S COMING!

thats the only reason why the 360 is so successful in japan right now.

I don't know about you but look at the past generation with reliability with the Ps2 and xbox. I've owned 4 ps2s, and all except for one broke (disc read errors). I had to pay to get it fixed too. Meanwhile my xbox is still going strong and can handle anything I can toss at it. XBMC etc.

Ps2's broke ALL the time, but that didn't stop consumers from playing on their favorite platform (ps2 is the reason why I chose 360 and not ps3)

Funny how the tides turn, isn't?

thank you! i owned a few PS2s and they messed up loads of my discs, and i ended up having to rebuy them again before i moved onto xbox (which ive never had a problem with) and ive only had 1 360 which died, and it was a launch and lasted 20 months. peoples always forget how bad the ps2s were (i know nothing on the RROD scale. but still)

Count me in on having 2 broken PS2's as well. The short memories from Sony fans (not saying the person who made the original comment is a PS3 fanboy) about the PS2 and being so quick to hate on the 360's RROD are some of the biggest hypocrites.

The difference being if my 360 red ringed on me MS has said they will fix it for free. Luckily, I've never had a problem with either of my 360's and they get played a lot. When I called Sony to get my situation fixed they told me "that's not our problem, pay us $120 or get bent!". Ask one of the hypocrites and they will go on their preach about Sony equals quality and value. Well I say to them what Sony basically told me.. GET BENT!

This is great news for MS and it looks like they are going to take the month of Sept in sales over Sony in Japan. I am thinking they will probably take them in NA as well and with MS talking about a %32 percent increase in Europe it might be a clean sweep.

I really don't get stuff like this... I really don't... I mean, I can understand how a price drop can affect sales, but what I don-t understand is the thing about the games...

I mean, the consoles (both ps3 and the 360) have a lot of EXCELLENT games. Now are people in Japan such a thing as complete morons/suckers that only care about ONE type of game??? I mean seriously, without trying to offend, sorry if anyone does feel offended, but that's the impression they give out, that they only buy for RPG games.... I mean, I can understad INDIVIDUAL people lliking certain genres more than others, but that a console can succeed or not in an entire country based on ONE type of game? That is simply ridiculous.....

Console makers should focus more on on a market like Latin America, which is considerable in size as a whole, and would be very important if they decided to come down and introduce their products at a REASONABLE price like they have in the US and in Europe, and not the ridiculous prices we sometimes get, even with direct importers (no official distribution whatsoever...).... pop.gif

that is not a ps2 or xbox problem that is a problem with all optical disc drive based systems. just like now there are many 360s with DRE problems and soon will see lot of ps3 too.
I have 5 xbox and 3 ps2 systems all with dvd drive problems.
anyways its good to see MS not giving up on Japan, but they need to get more JPN games made for that market and not depend on US games too sell systems there.

I take it this is a sarcastic joke.
A few weeks of sales in JPN does not mean the 360 is going to tread on the Wii laugh.gif
