Microsoft: New Xbox Experience in November
Posted by XanTium | September 26 16:30 EST | News Category: Xbox360

From xboxlive.ign.com:
[QUOTE]
Don't expect the New Xbox Experience to roll out for over a month. In an interview with Scott Austin, Director of Digitally Distributed Games for Microsoft, IGN was told that the New Xbox Experience will be pushed out to Xbox 360s in November. While talking about new ways that are coming to purchase Xbox Live Arcade games, Austin said, "One of the great things we have with the New Xbox Experience that we're rolling out in November is that we now have web Marketplace available for our consumers."

At least it's not December again.

When is American Thanksgiving? I imagine they'll either launch like a week before, or a couple of days after the holiday. The last thing they want is a bunch of people planning to go on live and run into problems (like last Christmas).

Thanksgiving is on the 28th of Nov this year(always on a thursday), the 29th is called black Friday every year. Black Friday is the day when the most sales occur in one day for the year, in nearly every store in the US.

I would guess they would release it a least a month before Christmas. I think Tiuk is right about them not wanting another Christmas like last year, but who knows we have all been let down by M$ before.

Maybe I'm looking too far into this. What exactly does that mean? That the marketplace is built off a better xml database, has live updates instead of rollout downloading updates after that for marketplace revisions? Or should I get wood for some more web involvement (browser support by 2010?)... brain...

I think you two are wrong. I believe the update will be closer to the begining of November. That's a very excellent strategic time to release the biggest system sellers of the year. You get it onto the market ahead of black friday, you let people see it and want it for a few weeks, and then the Christmas holiday shopping season comes and all those customers finally bite. They might wait until later, because we all know MS hasn't always done the smartest things, or on the other hand, had too many problems to make it to market by a certain deadline. Bottom line, if I bet on it, I would bet for the begining.... just like the release of the two systems.

What he's talking about is the new feature that gives you the ability to buy any marketplace item via xbox.com.

It kinda says it all right there rolleyes.gif
Nobody here is psychic. To be safe - unplug it and wait. To be safer - don't bring a modded xbox on live.
